USV Iasi and CS Aerostar Bacau produced a six-goal thriller in Romanian Liga III, playing out a 3-3 draw that swung one way and then the other before a late equaliser rescued a point for the visitors.

Matches with this much attacking intent are often decided by the smallest details, and this one was no exception. USV Iasi fought back from behind more than once, while CS Aerostar Bacau showed character to respond after conceding the lead in the second half. The result leaves both teams with positives to take, but also clear defensive work to do.

Match overview

USV Iasi started with purpose and tried to pin Aerostar back, but the visitors looked dangerous whenever they broke forward. The game quickly turned into an open contest, with both midfields struggling to control the space between the lines. That suited Aerostar in the early stages, as they found room to counter, while Iasi grew into the game as their wide players became more involved.

By the end of the first half, the scoreline had already set the tone for a dramatic afternoon. Neither defence looked fully comfortable, and both goalkeepers were kept busy. The second half only increased the tempo, with the lead changing hands and the match becoming a test of nerve as much as quality.

Key moments

Aerostar struck first, taking advantage of a quick transition to open the scoring. USV Iasi responded well and levelled through a well-worked move that opened up the visitors’ back line. Aerostar restored their advantage before the break, but Iasi came out after half-time with renewed energy and equalised again.

The home side then edged in front for the first time, and for a brief period it looked as though they might hold on. Aerostar, however, kept pushing and found a late equaliser to silence the home support. The final whistle arrived with both teams having created enough chances to win it, and a draw was difficult to argue with on balance.

Tactical story

USV Iasi’s strength came through their wide play and the willingness of their midfielders to join attacks. When they moved the ball quickly, Aerostar’s defensive line was stretched. The home side’s weakness was the space they left behind when full-backs pushed forward, and Aerostar repeatedly targeted those areas on the counterattack.

Aerostar Bacau were direct and efficient in transition. They did not need long spells of possession to create danger, and their forwards caused problems with movement in behind. The visitors’ defending in set-piece situations and around their own box was less convincing, which is why they were unable to protect their leads.

Standout performers

The USV Iasi attacking unit deserved credit for the persistence shown throughout the match. Their creative players kept probing even after setbacks, and the equalising goals were built on patience as much as execution. Aerostar’s forward line was equally impressive, with sharp movement and composed finishing keeping the home defence on edge.

Both goalkeepers made important saves in a game that could easily have finished with more goals. In the end, the attacking players dominated the headlines, but the result also highlighted how much both sides rely on their defensive structure to close out matches.

Season impact

The draw gives USV Iasi and CS Aerostar Bacau a point each in the Romanian Liga III standings, but both will know that conceding three goals is not a sustainable recipe for promotion ambitions. USV Iasi will focus on turning promising spells into controlled victories, while Aerostar will take heart from their resilience and ability to score away from home.

For neutrals, this was one of the more entertaining fixtures of the round. For the coaches, it will provide plenty of material for the training ground, particularly in terms of game management and defensive compactness.
