Urban Titu secured a 2-1 victory over local rivals FC Pucioasa in the Romanian Liga III on Friday, 16 October 2026, winning a competitive derby by the narrowest of margins in front of their home supporters.

Match overview

Matches between clubs from the same region often carry extra edge, and this Dâmbovița derby was no exception. Urban Titu and FC Pucioasa know each other well, and the opening exchanges reflected that familiarity — few surprises, plenty of midfield jostling and a determination from both sides not to give anything away cheaply.

What separated the teams over the 90 minutes was Urban Titu's greater cutting edge in the final third. They found the decisive moments when the game was finely balanced, while Pucioasa were left to rue a spell of pressure that yielded only one goal.

Key moments

• Opening goal: Urban Titu broke the deadlock with a move that started on the left flank, the ball worked across the box before being converted from close range.
• Doubling the lead: A second goal followed, giving the hosts breathing room and forcing FC Pucioasa to chase the game.
• Pucioasa respond: The visitors halved the deficit with a well-taken goal, rewarded for pushing more players forward and applying sustained pressure.
• Holding firm: Urban Titu managed the closing stages intelligently, slowing the tempo, keeping possession in wide areas and defending their box to protect the win.

Tactical story

Urban Titu's approach leaned on width and quick transitions. By stretching FC Pucioasa with runners on both flanks, they created space in the middle and repeatedly got their attacking midfielders into dangerous positions between the lines. It was a strategy that worked particularly well in the periods either side of half-time.

FC Pucioasa were at their best when they raised the tempo and pressed higher up the pitch. Their goal came during exactly such a spell, and for a while it looked as though an equaliser might follow. But Urban Titu's response was measured — rather than panicking, they tightened up in midfield and saw out the remaining minutes with a maturity that will please their coaching staff.

Standout performers

Urban Titu's goalscorers provided the end product, but the platform came from a midfield that won the majority of second balls and kept the team ticking. The defensive line also deserves credit for withstanding a late aerial barrage. For FC Pucioasa, the player who scored their goal was their most persistent threat, and their goalkeeper produced a strong save to keep the scoreline close in the second half.

What the result means

Three points from a local derby are always sweeter, and this win gives Urban Titu a welcome boost in the Romanian Liga III table as the season settles into its rhythm. It also adds another entry to a head-to-head record that has become increasingly competitive in recent years. For FC Pucioasa, the defeat is a frustrating one given the effort produced, but the performance offered enough encouragement to suggest better results are within reach.

Both clubs will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Urban Titu looking to build on their momentum and FC Pucioasa aiming to convert spirited displays into points.
