Crisul Santandrei Come From Behind to Beat Unirea Dej 2-1 Away

Crisul Santandrei produced a resilient away performance to defeat Unirea Dej 2-1 in Romanian Liga III on 16 October 2026. In a match that swung back and forth, the visitors recovered from conceding just before half-time to score the decisive goal in the second period and take all three points home.

The 20:00 fixture was competitive throughout, with both teams creating chances, but Santandrei's clinical edge in the final third ultimately proved the difference.

Match Overview

Crisul Santandrei started the stronger and were rewarded for their early pressure with the opening goal. Unirea Dej gradually grew into the contest, equalising in first-half stoppage time to shift the momentum and send the teams in level at the break.

The second half was a more balanced affair, but Santandrei found an extra gear around the seventieth minute, re-taking the lead and then defending it with discipline as Dej pushed for a second equaliser.

Key Moments

• 22' – Santandrei strike first: Bogdan Crișan found the net with a well-placed finish, capping a bright opening spell from the visitors.
• 45+2' – Dej equalise: Paul Rusu pounced in a goalmouth scramble right before the interval, a goal that transformed the atmosphere at the stadium.
• 69' – The winner: Andrei Lazăr timed his run perfectly to meet a cross and restore Santandrei's advantage.
• 87' – Late drama: Unirea Dej struck the woodwork in their best chance of the closing stages, inches away from a leveller.

Tactical Story

Unirea Dej built their game around possession and patient build-up, but Santandrei's mid-block made it difficult to find passes into the final third. The visitors were happy to concede territory and hit on the break, and both of their goals came from quick, direct sequences.

After the equaliser, Dej briefly looked the more likely side, pushing their full-backs forward and committing extra numbers into the box. Santandrei's response was clinical, exploiting the space left behind, and thereafter they managed the game with maturity, slowing the tempo and winning fouls at key moments.

Standout Players

Bogdan Crișan's opening goal showed the quality Santandrei possess in attack, while Andrei Lazăr's timing for the winner was excellent. In midfield, the visitors' ball-winners were relentless. For Unirea Dej, Paul Rusu took his goal well and remained a threat, and the side's creative players produced enough to suggest the scoreline could easily have been different.

Romanian Liga III Table Impact

An away win against a competitive opponent is one of the most valuable currencies in Liga III, and Crisul Santandrei will recognise the significance of this result. It strengthens their position in the standings and delivers a psychological lift for the fixtures ahead. Unirea Dej, meanwhile, are left to rue missed opportunities at home, where dropped points can be costly in a tightly packed division.

The two clubs' head-to-head record now shows another narrow Santandrei success, adding extra motivation for Unirea Dej when the reverse fixture arrives.
