Unirea Bascov defeated ACS Academica Bals 3-1 in Romanian Liga III on 18 September 2026, using a dominant first-hour performance to secure all three points at home.

Bascov started brightly and never really surrendered control, even after Academica Bals pulled a goal back. The win adds another positive result to their Liga III campaign and highlights the value of their direct, high-tempo attacking play.

Match overview

The hosts lined up in a 4-4-2 system, pressing Academica Bals’ defenders early and looking to win the ball in advanced areas. Bals responded with a 4-2-3-1, trying to create through central combinations, but they were often forced backwards by Bascov’s midfield energy.

Unirea Bascov’s best work came down the flanks, where quick overlaps and early crosses caused repeated problems. The second goal, in particular, came from exactly that pattern: a wide overload followed by a low delivery into the penalty area.

Key moments

• 18th minute – Bascov 1-0: Mihai Trandafir finished from close range after a sustained spell of pressure.
• 52nd minute – Bascov 2-0: Alexandru Neacșu doubled the lead with a composed strike from the edge of the box.
• 70th minute – Bascov 2-1: Andrei Stroe gave Academica Bals hope with a well-placed header from a set piece.
• 88th minute – Bascov 3-1: Robert Ene put the result beyond doubt, finishing a counter-attack in the closing stages.

Tactical story

Unirea Bascov’s pressing structure was the foundation of the win. By denying Academica Bals time on the ball in midfield, they forced long passes and then recovered possession quickly. Bals improved after their goal and pushed more players forward, but that left space behind, which Bascov exploited for the clinching third goal.

Academica Bals showed flashes of quality, especially from set pieces, but they struggled to string together enough passes in the final third. Their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, yet the overall balance of play favoured the home side.

Standout players

Mihai Trandafir was central to Bascov’s attacking play, linking midfield and attack with clever movement. Alexandru Neacșu controlled the tempo, while Robert Ene made a decisive impact from the bench. For Academica Bals, Andrei Stroe took his goal well and remained a threat in the air.

Liga III impact

The 3-1 result strengthens Unirea Bascov’s position in the Romanian Liga III table and gives them momentum for the next round of fixtures. ACS Academica Bals leave with a difficult defeat but can take encouragement from their second-half response. The final score reads Unirea Bascov 3-1 ACS Academica Bals.
