Progresul Mogosoaia 2-1 ACS LPS HD Clinceni: Late Ionita Strike Seals Liga III Comeback

Progresul Mogosoaia produced a determined second-half performance to beat ACS LPS HD Clinceni 2-1 in Romanian Liga III on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Played under the lights at Stadionul Progresul, the match turned on a late goal from substitute Razvan Ionita, who finished from close range after a well-worked move down the right. The result gives Mogosoaia a valuable three points and leaves Clinceni with a narrow away defeat despite an encouraging start.

Match Overview

Clinceni began the brighter of the two sides, pressing high and forcing Mogosoaia into several early clearances. That pressure paid off in the 23rd minute when Andrei Matei latched onto a through ball and slotted a low finish past goalkeeper Bogdan Stan. Mogosoaia responded well, gradually settling into the match through the midfield control of Andrei Popa and Mihai Tudor.

The equaliser arrived four minutes before half-time. Cristian Dumitru, Mogosoaia’s most creative player, curled a precise shot from the edge of the box after a short corner routine caught Clinceni’s defence off guard. The goal changed the mood of the contest, and the home side went into the break level at 1-1 with momentum on their side.

In the second half, Mogosoaia pushed their full-backs higher and pinned Clinceni deeper. The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Dumitru slipped a pass into the path of Razvan Ionita, who had come off the bench only minutes earlier. The substitute took a calm touch before side-footing the ball beyond the goalkeeper. Clinceni threw bodies forward in the closing stages, but a late header from captain Mihai Radu was saved brilliantly by Stan, and Mogosoaia held on for a hard-fought win.

Key Moments

• 23rd minute – Clinceni take the lead: Andrei Matei ran onto a defence-splitting pass and finished low into the corner.
• 41st minute – Mogosoaia equalise: Cristian Dumitru curled a shot home from the edge of the area after a well-rehearsed short corner.
• 58th minute – Tactical switch: Mogosoaia moved their wingers inside, allowing the full-backs to overlap and stretch Clinceni’s back line.

• 90+3 minutes – Late save: Bogdan Stan reacted sharply to deny Mihai Radu’s header and preserve all three points.

Tactical Story

Mogosoaia set up in a 4-2-3-1, looking to control possession through the middle and use quick combinations around the penalty area. Clinceni lined up in a 4-4-2 and initially tried to press high, which worked well in the opening quarter. However, as the game wore on, that intensity dropped and Mogosoaia’s extra midfielder began to dictate the rhythm.

The home side’s second-half adjustment was crucial. By pushing the full-backs forward and narrowing the wingers, they created overloads on the flanks and forced Clinceni’s midfielders into deep defensive positions. Clinceni remained dangerous on the counter and from set pieces, but their direct style became easier to defend once Mogosoaia took the lead.

Standout Players

Cristian Dumitru was the standout performer for Progresul Mogosoaia, scoring the equaliser and providing the assist for the winner. His movement between the lines caused Clinceni problems throughout. Razvan Ionita made an immediate impact from the bench, while goalkeeper Bogdan Stan produced the game’s most important save in stoppage time.

For ACS LPS HD Clinceni, Andrei Matei was the brightest attacking threat and took his goal well. Captain Mihai Radu battled hard in both boxes and came close to snatching a late equaliser. Despite the defeat, Clinceni showed enough to suggest they will remain competitive in the Liga III campaign.

Table Impact and What’s Next

The win strengthens Progresul Mogosoaia’s position in the Romanian Liga III standings and extends an encouraging run on home soil. Three points against a local rival can be especially valuable in a division where consistency often decides promotion and relegation battles. Clinceni, meanwhile, remain within touching distance of mid-table but will be frustrated to leave Mogosoaia empty-handed after a promising opening half.

Mogosoaia will look to build on this result in their next fixture, while Clinceni must regroup quickly to avoid a difficult sequence. The head-to-head between the two Ilfov clubs continues to be closely contested, and this latest chapter added another tight, dramatic result to the rivalry.
