Gloria Baneasa secured a valuable 2-1 away victory over FC Otelul Galati II in Romanian Liga III on Wednesday night, coming from behind to snatch all three points. The win lifts Baneasa up the table and hands Otelul Galati II a frustrating defeat on home soil.

Match Overview

The home side started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when Stefan Rusu capitalised on a defensive mix-up, firing a low shot into the net. Otelul Galati II looked comfortable for much of the first half, controlling possession and creating a few half-chances. However, Gloria Baneasa stayed patient and found an equaliser just before the break. Andrei Tudor latched onto a through ball and calmly finished past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1 at half-time.

The second half was a more balanced affair, with both teams pushing for a winner. Otelul Galati II pressed forward, but their defensive line left gaps at the back. In the 72nd minute, Baneasa punished them. Marius Popa broke free on the counter-attack and slotted the ball home to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Otelul threw men forward in search of an equaliser, but Baneasa defended resolutely to hold on for a crucial win.

Tactical Story

FC Otelul Galati II lined up with a 4-4-2 and looked to use their width to stretch Gloria Baneasa. They enjoyed plenty of possession but lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Baneasa, meanwhile, set up in a compact 4-5-1, looking to absorb pressure and hit on the break. That strategy worked perfectly in the second half, as Otelul’s increasing desperation left space for Baneasa’s quick forwards. The winning goal was a textbook counter-attack, executed with precision.

Standout Players

Marius Popa was the hero for Gloria Baneasa, his pace and composure on the break making the difference. Andrei Tudor’s equaliser was also crucial, and he was a constant nuisance for the Otelul defence. For FC Otelul Galati II, Stefan Rusu took his goal well, but the team’s inability to convert possession into clear chances cost them dearly. Goalkeeper Andrei Ionescu made a couple of fine saves to keep the score down.

Table Impact

Gloria Baneasa climb the Liga III standings with this hard-fought away win, boosting their confidence for the matches ahead. FC Otelul Galati II remain in a mid-table scrap and will be disappointed to have let a lead slip at home. In a division where away victories are precious, Baneasa’s resilience could prove pivotal over the course of the season.
