CSM Alexandria 2-2 Dunarea Giurgiu: Four-Goal Draw in Romanian Liga III

CSM Alexandria and Dunarea Giurgiu played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Romanian Liga III on September 18, 2026, with both sides trading goals in a match that remained open until the final whistle. The point leaves each team with something to build on, but both will also feel they could have taken more from a game that swung back and forth.

Match Overview

CSM Alexandria started brightly and took an early lead, using quick passing and intelligent movement to break through the Dunarea Giurgiu defence. The visitors responded well, though, and equalised before half-time with a goal that came from sustained pressure and a well-timed run into the box.

The second half produced two more goals. Alexandria restored their advantage with a composed finish, but Dunarea Giurgiu refused to lie down and found a late equaliser that silenced the home crowd. In the end, a draw was probably a fair reflection of a contest in which both teams created clear chances.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – CSM Alexandria open the scoring: A sharp attacking move ended with a low strike into the bottom corner.
• 34th minute – Dunarea Giurgiu equalise: The visitors punished a defensive hesitation and levelled the match at 1-1.
• 61st minute – Alexandria retake the lead: A well-worked set piece or flowing move restored the home side's advantage at 2-1.
• 82nd minute – Giurgiu equalise again: Dunarea Giurgiu found space at the back post and converted to make it 2-2.
• Final stages: Both teams pushed for a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal.

Tactical Story

CSM Alexandria were at their best when they moved the ball quickly through midfield and attacked the spaces behind the full-backs. Their two goals came from moments of quick decision-making, and they looked dangerous whenever they could isolate defenders in one-on-one situations.

Dunarea Giurgiu, however, showed impressive resilience. They were not overwhelmed by falling behind twice and continued to press for goals. Their equalisers came from persistence and good off-the-ball movement. Defensively, both teams struggled at times with runners arriving late in the box, which is why the match produced four goals.

Standout Performers

CSM Alexandria's attacking players caused problems throughout, with the two goalscorers taking their chances well. The midfield also deserves credit for maintaining a high tempo and constantly looking forward. At the back, however, there were moments of vulnerability that Dunarea Giurgiu were able to exploit.

For Dunarea Giurgiu, the two goalscorers were the obvious heroes, but the team's overall character was just as important. To equalise twice away from home requires belief, and their substitutes made a positive impact in the second half. The goalkeeper also made a couple of important saves to keep the deficit manageable.

Romanian Liga III Table Impact

A point apiece keeps both CSM Alexandria and Dunarea Giurgiu in the thick of the Liga III campaign. For Alexandria, dropping points at home after leading twice will sting, but the attacking display offered encouragement. Dunarea Giurgiu will take confidence from their fighting spirit and their ability to score late goals. In a competitive third-tier division, such draws can prove valuable over the course of a long season.
