USV Iasi claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away win against CSM Adjud on 22 September 2026, edging a tight Romanian Liga III contest that was decided by small margins and a healthier dose of composure in front of goal. The visitors took all three points from a ground where travelling teams rarely find life easy.

Match Overview

On paper this looked like a fixture that could go either way, and the early stages reflected that. CSM Adjud, backed by a vocal home support, started with real intensity and looked to press USV Iasi high up the pitch, forcing hurried clearances and generating a couple of promising set-piece situations. The visitors weathered the storm, gradually found their passing rhythm, and took control of the middle third as the first half wore on.

The contest remained close throughout, but USV Iasi's quality in the final third proved decisive. Two well-taken goals either side of an Adjud equaliser gave them a lead they protected with maturity in the closing stages.

Key Moments

• Fast start from Adjud: The hosts created the first genuine chance of the match inside the opening ten minutes, a header flashing wide from a deep cross.
• Opening goal for USV Iasi: Against the run of play, the visitors scored with a composed finish after a clever ball in behind the Adjud defence.
• Adjud level: The equaliser arrived from a well-worked move down the left, with the winger cutting inside and picking out the far corner.
• Winning goal: USV Iasi restored their advantage before the hour mark, punishing a loose pass in midfield with a swift, decisive counter-attack.
• Late pressure survived: Adjud threw bodies forward in the final twenty minutes, but the visiting defence stood firm and the goalkeeper made one important save low to his right.

Tactical Story

The tactical theme of the evening was USV Iasi's ability to absorb pressure and then strike in transition. Adjud committed numbers forward in wide areas, and that attacking intent left them exposed in the spaces behind their full-backs. The visitors recognised this early and repeatedly looked for the direct pass over the top, which produced both goals.

Adjud's midfield worked tirelessly and won plenty of the ball, but their build-up play became predictable as the game progressed — too many crosses into a box where USV Iasi's centre-backs were dominant in the air. When the home side did play through the middle, they looked far more dangerous, and that is a lesson their coaching staff will take from the defeat.

Standout Performers

USV Iasi's forward line deserves the headlines for their finishing, but the spine of the team was just as important. The defensive midfielder broke up play repeatedly in the second half and consistently chose the right pass under pressure, while the goalkeeper's late save preserved the victory.

For CSM Adjud, the left winger was the standout performer — direct, inventive and the source of the goal. The equaliser was a reward for the home side's best spell of the match, and it underlined how dangerous they can be when they get their wide players into one-on-one situations.

What It Means in the Table

Three away points of this kind are invaluable in Liga III, where travel and tight grounds can turn promising seasons into frustrating ones. USV Iasi move forward with momentum and a clear identity: solid defensively, quick in transition, and capable of scoring at important moments.

CSM Adjud, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a performance that deserved more than it produced. Their home form will be central to their campaign, and turning narrow defeats like this one into draws — or wins — is the difference between a comfortable mid-table finish and a tense spring.
