CS Paulesti 0-2 Tunari: Clinical Away Display Seals Liga III Win

Tunari delivered a composed and efficient away performance to defeat CS Paulesti 2-0 in Romanian Liga III on 22 September 2026. Two well-taken goals, one in each half, separated the sides in a match where the visitors made the most of their chances and defended their lead with maturity.

CS Paulesti enjoyed spells of possession and pushed numbers forward after the break, but they were unable to find a way through a compact Tunari defence. The result gives Tunari an important boost in the early-season standings, while Paulesti are left to reflect on a night of missed opportunities.

Match Overview

The game was played at a brisk tempo from the opening whistle. Paulesti looked to build through midfield and create width, while Tunari sat in a disciplined 4-2-3-1 shape and looked to strike on the counter. The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute when a quick transition ended with a low finish into the far corner. That goal changed the rhythm of the contest, forcing Paulesti to take more risks.

After the interval, Paulesti increased their pressure and forced several corners, but Tunari’s goalkeeper was rarely tested with a clear sight of goal. The decisive second arrived in the 71st minute, again on the counter, as Tunari broke at speed and doubled their advantage with a calm finish inside the penalty area.

Key Moments

• 23rd minute: Tunari open the scoring after a fast break, finishing calmly beyond the home goalkeeper.
• 52nd minute: CS Paulesti’s best chance of the night clips the crossbar from a header following a corner.
• 71st minute: Tunari double the lead with a clinical counter-attacking goal.
• 84th minute: Paulesti push bodies forward, but a last-ditch block preserves Tunari’s clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Tunari’s game plan was clear: absorb pressure, stay compact between the lines, and attack the space behind Paulesti’s advanced full-backs. Their midfield duo protected the back four well, and the wingers tracked back consistently. Paulesti, by contrast, struggled to turn possession into clear chances. Their build-up was patient but often predictable, and crosses into the box were dealt with comfortably by Tunari’s centre-backs.

The away side’s discipline was the difference. They conceded few fouls in dangerous areas and were happy to let Paulesti pass the ball sideways. When the opportunities came, Tunari were ruthless.

Standout Players

Tunari’s goalkeeper produced a confident display, claiming crosses and making one important second-half save. The central defensive partnership was commanding in the air, while the goalscorers took their chances with real quality. For CS Paulesti, the midfield captain never stopped driving forward, and the left winger was their most dangerous outlet, but the final ball was lacking.

Season Impact

This 2-0 away win strengthens Tunari’s position in the Romanian Liga III table and adds momentum to their campaign. For CS Paulesti, the focus will be on improving their finishing and turning possession into points. The Liga III standings remain tight, and both teams will know that away results like this can shape the race for promotion and survival.
