CS Blejoi secured a narrow but fully deserved 1-0 victory over CS Paulesti in Romanian Liga III on Friday, 9 October 2026, with a single goal proving enough to settle a competitive local contest. It was a win built on defensive discipline and a clinical moment in front of goal, the kind of performance that coaches in the third tier value above style.

Match Overview

Blejoi controlled the tempo from the early stages, keeping the ball with purpose and forcing CS Paulesti into a deep defensive shape. The visitors' plan was clear from the outset: stay compact, deny space between the lines, and look to hurt their hosts on the break with quick, direct attacking play.

The first half produced plenty of possession for Blejoi but few clear sights of goal, as Paulesti defended their penalty area with discipline and blocked several attempts from the edge of the box. The game was decided by a moment of quality rather than a collapse in organisation.

Key Moments

• The breakthrough: Blejoi's goal arrived after patient build-up play drew Paulesti out of position, creating the space for a well-struck finish that beat the goalkeeper at his near post.
• Paulesti's best chance: The visitors nearly levelled with a counter-attack that ended in a shot deflected just wide, the closest they came to an equaliser all evening.
• Late resistance: With time running down, Paulesti pushed numbers forward, but Blejoi's back line held firm, clearing a flurry of crosses in stoppage time.

Tactical Story

This was a classic case of a team with more of the ball facing a side built to defend in numbers. Blejoi's full-backs pushed high to create width, allowing their midfielders to circulate possession and wait for gaps to appear. That patience paid off with the only goal of the game, and once ahead, Blejoi managed the contest intelligently, slowing the tempo and restricting their opponents' opportunities to counter.

CS Paulesti will feel the game plan very nearly worked. Their defensive block limited clear chances for long stretches and their transitions created two meaningful openings. What they lacked was the final ball, and against a side as organised as Blejoi, that margin proved decisive.

Standout Performers

Blejoi's goalscorer takes the headlines, but the performance of their central defensive pairing was just as important, dealing with every ball played into the box in the closing stages. The holding midfielder was tireless in breaking up play and recycling possession. For CS Paulesti, the goalkeeper kept his side in the match with a string of saves, and the left-back was their most effective attacking outlet.

What It Means for the Table

The three points strengthen CS Blejoi's position in Liga III and underline their reliability at home, where they have now turned narrow contests into victories. For CS Paulesti, the defeat is a reminder of how punishing the division can be, but the performance showed enough defensive quality to suggest points will follow if they find more ruthlessness in the final third.

Final score: CS Blejoi 1-0 CS Paulesti.
