ACS LPS HD Clinceni defeated ACS Axi Arena 2-0 in Romanian Liga III on 18 September 2026, with a controlled home display and goals either side of half-time.

Clinceni managed the match intelligently, taking the lead in the first half and then protecting their advantage before adding a second goal in the closing stages. Axi Arena competed well in spells but lacked the final touch in the attacking third.

Match overview

ACS LPS HD Clinceni set up in a 4-2-3-1, looking to use their creative players between the lines. ACS Axi Arena responded with a 5-3-2 shape, aiming to stay compact and frustrate the hosts before hitting on the counter.

The plan worked for periods, but Clinceni’s patience and width allowed them to create openings. Once the first goal arrived, the home side looked increasingly comfortable and controlled the tempo of the second half.

Key moments

• 21st minute – Clinceni 1-0: Ionuț Matei opened the scoring with a first-time finish after a low cross from the left.
• 44th minute: Axi Arena created their best chance of the match, but the effort was blocked bravely inside the box.
• 74th minute – Clinceni 2-0: Andrei Barbu sealed the win with a composed finish after a quick counter-attack.
• 88th minute: Clinceni kept possession well to see out the final minutes without serious pressure.

Tactical story

Clinceni’s midfield controlled the game by recycling possession and drawing Axi Arena out of their defensive shape. The hosts frequently switched play to the flanks, creating crossing opportunities and forcing the visitors to defend deep.

Axi Arena’s five-man defence limited space centrally, but they struggled to support their forwards when they won the ball back. Their best moments came from direct runs, yet the final decision or pass was often missing.

Standout players

Ionuț Matei was lively throughout and deserved his goal. Andrei Barbu added invention and composure, while Clinceni’s centre-backs dealt confidently with Axi Arena’s rare counter-attacks. For the visitors, the goalkeeper and central defenders were the standout performers in a losing cause.

What the result means

The 2-0 win gives ACS LPS HD Clinceni three valuable points in the Romanian Liga III standings and continues their solid home form. ACS Axi Arena will take lessons from the defeat, particularly in the final third, but will feel the scoreline slightly flattered the hosts. The final result is ACS LPS HD Clinceni 2-0 ACS Axi Arena.
