Gloria Popesti-Leordeni produced a ruthless away performance to beat Metaloglobus 3-0 in the Romanian Liga II on Saturday afternoon. The visitors scored twice in the second half to turn a narrow lead into a comfortable victory, leaving Metaloglobus still searching for their first home win of the season.

Early breakthrough sets the tone

Gloria started on the front foot and took the lead in the 10th minute when Ionuț Năstăsie reacted quickest to a rebound inside the box and slotted the ball home. Metaloglobus tried to respond, enjoying plenty of possession, but they struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised defence. Gloria’s goalkeeper made two smart saves to preserve the lead before half-time, and the visitors went into the break with a deserved advantage.

Key moments and turning points

The game turned decisively in the 55th minute when Năstăsie scored his second, finishing off a swift counter-attack with a low drive from just inside the area. Metaloglobus pushed men forward in search of a way back into the match, but that left them exposed at the back. In the 78th minute, Alexandru Tudorie added a third, heading in a corner to seal all three points. Metaloglobus’s frustration was compounded when they had a goal ruled out for offside late on.

Tactical story

Gloria Popesti-Leordeni set up in a disciplined 4-4-2, pressing Metaloglobus’s midfielders and forcing them into sideways passes. When they won the ball, they attacked with pace and directness, often targeting the space behind the full-backs. Metaloglobus dominated possession but lacked penetration, and their defence looked vulnerable on the counter. The home side also struggled with set-pieces, conceding the third goal from a corner.

Standout performers

• Ionuț Năstăsie (Gloria Popesti-Leordeni): Scored twice and was a constant menace with his movement and finishing.
• Alexandru Tudorie (Gloria Popesti-Leordeni): Added the third goal and held the ball up well to relieve pressure.
• Metaloglobus goalkeeper: Made several excellent saves to keep the score respectable, though he was powerless for the goals.

Season impact

Gloria Popesti-Leordeni climb to fifth place in the Liga II standings, now just three points behind the promotion play-off spots. Their away form is becoming a major strength. Metaloglobus remain in the bottom four, with just one win from their opening fixtures. The pressure is mounting on the coaching staff, and they will need a rapid turnaround to avoid a relegation battle. Next weekend, Gloria host AFC Metalul Buzau, while Metaloglobus travel to ACS Dumbravita.
