FCM Targu Mures started brightly, pressing high and attacking with purpose, while CS Dinamo Bucuresti looked dangerous on the break. The first half set the tone for a chaotic, end-to-end contest, with both defences struggling to contain the opposition’s forward runners.

By the time the final whistle blew, seven goals had been scored, momentum had changed hands repeatedly, and both sets of supporters had experienced almost every emotion possible. It was the kind of result that can define a season — a thrilling win for Targu Mures and a painful defeat for Dinamo Bucuresti.

Key moments

• Early opener: FCM Targu Mures struck first, capitalising on a defensive mistake and finishing confidently.
• Dinamo response: CS Dinamo Bucuresti equalised with a well-worked move, only for Targu Mures to restore their lead before half-time.
• Second-half explosion: The game opened up completely after the break, with goals arriving in quick succession as both teams pushed forward.
• Late drama: After Dinamo fought back to level terms, FCM Targu Mures found a decisive goal in the closing stages to seal the 4-3 win.

Tactical story

FCM Targu Mures were the more proactive side, looking to play through midfield and use the width of the pitch to stretch Dinamo’s defence. Their movement in the final third caused constant problems, and their willingness to shoot from distance kept the opposition goalkeeper busy. However, their defensive organisation was far from perfect, and they were repeatedly exposed by Dinamo’s direct counter-attacks.

CS Dinamo Bucuresti showed character to keep coming back, but their defensive line was too often caught out of position. The game became a battle of attrition, with both managers making attacking substitutions in search of a winner. In the end, Targu Mures’ greater composure in the final minutes made the difference.

Standout players

FCM Targu Mures’ attacking players were the difference-makers, with sharp link-up play and clinical finishing in the box. The goalscorers deserve praise, but so too does the midfielder who controlled the tempo and repeatedly broke through Dinamo’s press. The goalkeeper also made a vital save late on when the score was 3-3.

For CS Dinamo Bucuresti, the forwards caused problems all evening and were rewarded with goals. Their captain led by example, driving the team forward during their comeback, but the defensive unit will be frustrated by the number of chances conceded.

What it means

This result is a major boost for FCM Targu Mures in the Romanian Liga II promotion race, giving them momentum and confidence after a high-scoring victory. For CS Dinamo Bucuresti, it is a damaging loss that highlights the fine margins in the second tier. In a league where every point matters, a 4-3 defeat will hurt, but the attacking display at least showed that Dinamo remain a threat going forward.
