Concordia Chiajna 5-0 Selimbar: Five-Star Home Display Stuns Liga II

Concordia Chiajna delivered one of the most emphatic performances of the Romanian Liga II round, dismantling Selimbar 5-0 on Saturday, 17 October 2026. The hosts were relentless from the opening whistle, combining sharp finishing with aggressive pressing to turn the match into a one-sided contest.

The five-goal victory is a major statement for Concordia Chiajna and a significant boost to their goal difference. Selimbar, by contrast, endured a difficult afternoon and will need to regroup quickly after a heavy away defeat.

Match Overview

Concordia Chiajna set the tone inside the opening ten minutes. The home side pressed high, forced turnovers in dangerous areas, and opened the scoring early with a composed finish inside the penalty area. Selimbar tried to settle into the game, but Concordia’s intensity made it difficult for the visitors to keep possession for long periods.

By half-time, the match was already firmly under Concordia’s control. Two further goals before the break underlined the home side’s dominance, with Selimbar struggling to cope with Concordia’s movement between the lines and their willingness to attack down both flanks.

Key Moments

• 7th minute: Concordia Chiajna open the scoring after a high turnover and a neat finish from close range.
• 24th minute: The lead is doubled with a low strike from the edge of the box.
• 39th minute: Concordia add a third before half-time, converting a cross from the right.
• 58th minute: A quick counter-attack makes it 4-0 shortly after the restart.
• 76th minute: Concordia complete the scoring with a fifth goal following another sustained attacking move.

Tactical Story

Concordia Chiajna’s tactical plan was clear: press aggressively, win the ball back quickly, and attack before Selimbar could organise. The home midfield controlled the central areas, while the wide players stretched the visitors’ defence and created space for runners into the box.

Selimbar never found a reliable way to slow the game down. The visitors were forced into rushed passes, lost too many duels in midfield, and were repeatedly exposed when Concordia switched play from one side to the other. Once the score reached 3-0, the match became a question of how many goals Concordia would score rather than whether they would win.

Standout Performers and Season Impact

Concordia’s attacking players shared the spoils, but the forward line’s movement and the midfield’s control were the foundation of the result. The home side’s ability to create chances from both open play and transitions made them almost impossible to contain.

The 5-0 win is a powerful statement in the Romanian Liga II and could prove valuable when goal difference is considered later in the season. For Selimbar, the focus must shift immediately to defensive organisation and restoring confidence ahead of their next match.
