Afumati delivered one of the most emphatic performances of their Liga II campaign on Sunday afternoon, dismantling Lindab Stefanesti 4-0 at the Stadionul Afumati. The home side were relentless from the first whistle, scoring twice in each half to claim all three points and strengthen their position in the Romanian second-tier standings.

Match Overview

From the opening exchanges, Afumati imposed their will on the game. The hosts pressed high, won the ball back quickly in midfield, and created a steady stream of chances. Lindab Stefanesti struggled to cope with the intensity and found themselves pinned back for long stretches. By the time the half-time whistle blew, the contest was already effectively decided, but Afumati refused to ease off after the break.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Andrei Popa opened the scoring with a low drive from the edge of the box after a clever lay-off from Mihai Dobre.
• 34th minute: Dobre doubled the lead, heading home a pinpoint cross from the right flank.
• 61st minute: Cristian Stan made it 3-0 with a composed finish following a swift counter-attack.
• 78th minute: Alexandru Ionescu converted a penalty to complete the rout after a foul on Popa.

Tactical Story

Afumati lined up in a flexible 4-3-3 that became a 4-2-3-1 out of possession, allowing them to dominate the central areas. Their midfield trio constantly rotated, creating overloads and forcing Lindab Stefanesti into rushed clearances. The visitors attempted to sit deep and absorb pressure, but their defensive line was too easily stretched by Afumati’s quick passing and movement. The hosts also pressed aggressively after losing the ball, winning it back in dangerous areas and sustaining attacks for long periods.

Standout Players

Andrei Popa was a constant menace, capping his performance with a goal and an assist. Mihai Dobre’s aerial threat and link-up play caused problems all afternoon, while Cristian Stan’s energy in midfield helped Afumati control the tempo. At the back, goalkeeper Radu Marin was rarely tested but commanded his box well to secure a clean sheet.

Season Impact

The three points lift Afumati further up the Liga II table and keep them firmly in the conversation for the promotion play-off places. For Lindab Stefanesti, the defeat is a significant setback in their battle to climb away from the lower reaches of the division. The head-to-head record between the sides now reads heavily in Afumati’s favour, and this result will give them plenty of confidence for the fixtures ahead.
