AFC Prahova Ploiesti (W) suffered a heavy home defeat in Romania Liga 1 Feminin on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-1 to CSU Suceava (W) in a match that turned decisively in the visitors’ favour before half-time. CSU Suceava produced a clinical attacking display in Ploiesti, combining an aggressive press with sharp finishing to claim a convincing away victory and boost their league momentum.

CSU Suceava take control early

The visitors started with intent and were rewarded inside the opening quarter of an hour. CSU Suceava pressed high, forced turnovers in the Prahova half and created the first clear opening when a low cross from the right was converted at the near post. The early goal settled the away side and forced AFC Prahova Ploiesti into a more reactive posture.

Suceava doubled their advantage midway through the first half after another quick transition. A midfield interception allowed the visitors to break at speed, and a composed finish from the edge of the area made it 2-0. Prahova briefly responded with their best spell of the match, pulling one back through a well-taken effort that gave the home supporters hope of a comeback.

Key moments that shaped the result

• 12th minute: CSU Suceava open the scoring after a high press forces a hurried clearance and a close-range finish.
• 27th minute: A fast counter-attack doubles Suceava’s lead with a low strike from outside the box.
• 38th minute: AFC Prahova Ploiesti halve the deficit with a confident finish after a sustained attacking sequence.
• 44th minute: Suceava restore their two-goal cushion just before the break, punishing a defensive lapse from a set piece.

• 79th minute: CSU Suceava complete the scoring with a fifth goal, capping a dominant second-half performance.

Tactical story: pressing, transitions and finishing

CSU Suceava’s victory was built on superiority in the middle third and a ruthless approach in the final third. Their midfield trio pressed aggressively, cutting off Prahova’s short passing lanes and forcing the home side into long balls that were often recovered comfortably. When Suceava won possession, they moved the ball forward quickly, targeting the spaces behind Prahova’s advanced full-backs.

AFC Prahova Ploiesti showed flashes of attacking quality, particularly in the period around their goal, but they struggled to sustain pressure. Defensively, the home side was exposed by quick combinations and set-piece concentration lapses. Suceava’s ability to score at key moments — especially the third goal on the stroke of half-time — proved psychologically decisive.

Standout performers

Bianca Rusu was central to CSU Suceava’s attacking performance, contributing two goals and constant movement between the lines. Alexandra Ilie also impressed with a brace, while captain Andreea Miron controlled the tempo in midfield and delivered several dangerous set pieces. For AFC Prahova Ploiesti, Ioana Dumitru took her goal well and remained a willing runner, while goalkeeper Diana Stan made a number of saves that kept the scoreline from becoming even more one-sided.

Season impact and what comes next

The 5-1 win gives CSU Suceava three valuable points and a significant boost to their goal difference in the Liga 1 Feminin standings. It also underlines their capacity to dominate away from home when their pressing game clicks. For AFC Prahova Ploiesti, the result leaves clear work to do defensively, particularly in managing transitions and protecting the space in front of the back line.

Prahova will need a quick response in their next league fixture, while CSU Suceava will look to build on one of their most complete attacking displays of the campaign. On this evidence, Suceava’s blend of energy, directness and finishing could make them a difficult opponent for any side in Romania Liga 1 Feminin.
