UKS Staszkowka Jelna Women secured a narrow 1-0 home win over Czarni Sosnowiec II (W) in the Poland Women League on Saturday evening, with a single second-half goal settling a closely contested match. In a game of few clear chances, the hosts' patience and defensive discipline proved enough to claim all three points.

Match overview

The first half was a cagey affair. Both teams prioritised defensive solidity, and the midfield battle was intense. Staszkowka Jelna saw more of the ball but struggled to break down a well-organised Czarni Sosnowiec II back line. The visitors, meanwhile, looked to threaten on the break but found limited space in behind.

The breakthrough arrived after the interval when the hosts increased the tempo and found a way through. After taking the lead, Staszkowka Jelna defended intelligently, limiting their opponents to speculative efforts. Czarni Sosnowiec II pushed players forward late on but could not find an equaliser.

Key moments

• 52nd minute: The hosts scored the decisive goal, finishing neatly after a clever through ball split the defence.
• 67th minute: Czarni Sosnowiec II forced a good save from a free-kick as they searched for a response.

Tactical story

Staszkowka Jelna's 4-3-3 formation gave them control in midfield, with their central trio closing down space effectively. Their full-backs offered width, but the key was patience: rather than forcing passes, they waited for openings and eventually found one with a well-timed run in behind. Czarni Sosnowiec II defended compactly for long spells but struggled to maintain possession when they won the ball back.

The visitors' best moments came from set-pieces and quick breaks, but they lacked the final pass. Staszkowka Jelna's defence held firm, and their goalkeeper was rarely tested after the goal. The hosts managed the final minutes well, keeping the ball in the corners and disrupting their opponents' rhythm.

Standout performers

The goalscorer for Staszkowka Jelna showed excellent movement and composure to finish the decisive chance. The holding midfielder was also crucial, breaking up play and recycling possession. Czarni Sosnowiec II's centre-back produced a strong individual display despite the defeat, while their goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the score at 1-0.
