Tactical story

Caguas Sporting’s first-half plan worked well: they pressed high, won the ball in wide areas, and attacked with numbers. After the break, Ponce FC adjusted by dropping their midfielders slightly deeper to create more room for their wingers, and that change stretched Caguas’ defensive line. Ponce also increased their tempo in possession, moving the ball from side to side before attacking the back post. Caguas responded with a late push, but Ponce’s game management in the final 10 minutes was strong.

Standout players

Miguel Rivera was central to Ponce FC’s comeback, scoring the equalizer and constantly finding space between Caguas’ midfield and defense. Carlos Bermúdez delivered the decisive moment with a composed finish. For Caguas Sporting, Javier Ortiz was their brightest attacking threat, but the home side could not turn their first-half control into a second goal.

Season impact

The victory gives Ponce FC valuable momentum in the Liga LPR standings and underlines their ability to win away from home. Caguas Sporting remain in search of consistency, especially after taking the lead and failing to hold on. Ponce’s second-half response will please the coaching staff, while Caguas must tighten up defensively in the closing stages of matches if they are to climb the table.
