Tactical Story

Academica (W) employed a high-pressing 4-3-3 that completely disrupted Academico Viseu's attempts to play out from the back. The front three were relentless in their pursuit of the ball, and the midfield won countless turnovers in dangerous areas. Academico Viseu tried to sit deep and absorb pressure, but the constant waves of attack proved too much. Academica's ability to switch play quickly from wing to wing created numerous overloads, and their set-piece delivery was particularly impressive, leading to the third goal. Defensively, they were barely tested, keeping a well-earned clean sheet.

Standout Players

Ana Rodrigues was the engine of the team, scoring the opener and linking play beautifully throughout. Catarina Lopes and Inês Costa both impressed with goals and intelligent movement, while Rita Pereira dictated the tempo from midfield. Substitute Marta Fernandes made an immediate impact with the fifth goal. For Academico Viseu, it was a tough afternoon, but their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

What It Means

Academica (W) advance to the next round of the Portuguese Women's Cup with confidence soaring. A 5-0 win sends a clear message to potential future opponents and gives the squad valuable momentum. Academico Viseu (W) will need to regroup quickly, but cup exits can sometimes help teams refocus on league priorities. For Academica, the challenge now is to carry this attacking form into their domestic campaign and mount a serious challenge on multiple fronts.
