Pacos de Ferreira earned a narrow 1-0 away win over Vitoria Guimaraes B in the Portuguese Liga 3 on October 11, 2026, with a second-half goal proving enough in a tightly contested match.

The visitors defended well, took their chance when it arrived, and managed the closing stages professionally. Vitoria Guimaraes B enjoyed more of the ball for long spells but could not find a way through a disciplined Pacos de Ferreira defence.

Match overview

Vitoria Guimaraes B started positively, using their young legs to press high and move the ball quickly through midfield. They created half-chances in the opening 20 minutes, but Pacos de Ferreira’s back line held firm and limited the space around the penalty area.

Pacos de Ferreira grew into the game and began to threaten on the counterattack. Their best moments came from set pieces and crosses into the box, and it was from one such situation that they found the winning goal in the 63rd minute. After that, the visitors dropped into a compact shape and protected their lead with maturity.

Tactical story

Vitoria Guimaraes B played with the confidence of a development side eager to impose itself, but they sometimes left gaps between midfield and defence when their full-backs advanced. Pacos de Ferreira recognised that and looked to attack quickly in those spaces. Their defensive organisation was excellent: the midfield tracked runners, the centre-backs stayed compact, and the goalkeeper commanded his area.

Pacos de Ferreira’s goal came from a well-rehearsed set-piece routine, and from that point on they were content to defend deeper and hit on the break. Vitoria Guimaraes B increased their possession in the final 20 minutes but struggled to create clear chances against a packed defence. The visitors’ game management was the difference between one point and three.

Standout players

André Sousa was Pacos de Ferreira’s match-winner, showing excellent timing and composure for the only goal. The goalkeeper also deserved credit for a late save, while the central defenders dealt with crosses and second balls throughout. For Vitoria Guimaraes B, the young midfielders showed energy and technical quality, and their left winger was a constant outlet, but the final product was missing.

Table impact and what it means

The victory is an important one for Pacos de Ferreira in the Portuguese Liga 3, strengthening their push for a strong position in the table. Winning away from home against a talented reserve side is never easy, and the clean sheet will please the coaching staff. Vitoria Guimaraes B will take encouragement from long spells of possession but must become more ruthless in the final third if they are to convert performances into points.
