Lusitano Evora and Oliveirense shared the points in a tense 2-2 draw in Portuguese Liga 3 on 24 October 2026, with a stoppage-time equaliser rescuing Lusitano at home. Oliveirense had twice taken the lead and looked set for an away win before a late surge changed the mood inside the ground.

Match overview

Oliveirense began with a compact defensive shape and looked to strike on the break. Their opener came after a well-worked move down the left, finished with a low shot across the goalkeeper. Lusitano responded positively, equalising before half-time through a header from a corner that had been flicked on at the near post.

The second half was more open. Oliveirense regained the lead just before the hour with a precise finish from the edge of the box, and for long spells they defended that advantage with discipline. Lusitano pushed more players forward, increased the tempo, and finally found an equaliser deep into stoppage time when a cross was turned in from close range.

Key moments

• 18’ – Oliveirense 0-1: A quick break and a composed finish gave the visitors the early lead.
• 34’ – Lusitano 1-1: A corner routine ended with a header that beat the goalkeeper at the far post.
• 58’ – Oliveirense 1-2: A crisp strike from outside the box restored the visitors’ advantage.
• 90+3’ – Lusitano 2-2: A late cross caused confusion in the box, and the ball was forced over the line.

Tactical story

Oliveirense’s game plan was clear: stay compact, deny space between the lines, and attack quickly when turnovers occurred. Their midfield screened the back four well for long periods, and their goalkeeper commanded the area. Lusitano, meanwhile, relied on width and set pieces to break down the block.

The hosts’ substitutions proved important. Fresh legs in wide areas allowed Lusitano to deliver more crosses in the final twenty minutes, and the equaliser came from exactly that route. Oliveirense will be disappointed with their game management, having come so close to a valuable away win.

Standout performers

Lusitano’s winger was a constant outlet, beating his marker and delivering dangerous balls into the box. Oliveirense’s central midfielder controlled the tempo and scored the visitors’ second goal. The Oliveirense goalkeeper made several smart saves before being beaten in stoppage time.

What it means

The draw keeps both sides in the tightly packed Liga 3 standings, where consistency is proving difficult to find. Lusitano will view the late equaliser as a sign of character, while Oliveirense will see it as two points lost. The head-to-head record remains balanced, and both teams will need to improve their game management in the coming weeks.
