FC Alverca B delivered one of the most complete performances of the night in the Portuguese Campeonato Nacional, beating AD Nogueirense 3-0 with a controlled display built on pressing, movement and clinical finishing.

Match overview

Alverca B were on the front foot from the opening whistle, pressing high and forcing Nogueirense into mistakes in their own half. The hosts took the lead midway through the first half and doubled their advantage before the break, giving them a cushion that allowed them to manage the second period with confidence.

Nogueirense tried to respond after half-time, but they struggled to keep possession for long enough to build sustained pressure. Alverca B added a third goal in the second half and saw out the win comfortably, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Key moments

• 18': Diogo Faria opened the scoring for FC Alverca B with a low finish after a quick turnover in midfield.
• 31': Nogueirense threatened on the counter but could not find the target from a promising position.
• 42': Rafael Nunes doubled the lead, arriving late in the box to convert a cut-back from the left.
• 58': Alverca B’s goalkeeper made a routine save as Nogueirense searched for a route back into the game.

Tactical story

FC Alverca B’s high press was the defining feature of the match. They denied Nogueirense time on the ball, forced errors in dangerous areas and attacked quickly once possession was won. The midfield trio worked well together, covering space and linking play with short, purposeful passes.

Nogueirense were forced into long balls for much of the night and struggled to sustain attacks. When they did get into wide areas, Alverca B’s defenders dealt with the deliveries well. The hosts also managed the game intelligently after taking a two-goal lead, never allowing the tempo to drop to a level that might invite a comeback.

Standout performers

Diogo Faria was excellent in midfield, setting the tone with his pressing and opening the scoring with a well-taken goal. Rafael Nunes and Tomás Rocha also impressed in the attacking phases, while the back line deserved credit for a clean sheet. For Nogueirense, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score down, but the team could not find a foothold in the match.

What the result means

The three points strengthen FC Alverca B’s position in the Portuguese Campeonato Nacional standings and underline the depth within the club. For AD Nogueirense, it is a night to forget, but the scoreline also highlights the gap in intensity between the two sides. Alverca B will look to carry this pressing game into their next fixture, while Nogueirense must find a way to be more compact and competitive away from home.
