Śląsk Wrocław Women 2-2 Lech Poznań UAM Women: Late Drama in Women's Ekstraliga Draw

Śląsk Wrocław Women and Lech Poznań UAM Women played out an entertaining 2-2 draw on Sunday, 27 September 2026, in Poland's Women's Ekstraliga. The match produced four goals, a series of momentum swings, and a late equaliser that left both sides with mixed emotions. It was a result that underlined the growing competitiveness of the Polish top flight, where the gap between the leading clubs and the chasing pack continues to narrow.

Match Overview

Played in front of an engaged home crowd in Wrocław, the fixture brought together two sides with contrasting styles. Śląsk Wrocław Women, one of the most established names in Polish women's football, looked to impose themselves early with high pressing and quick combinations. Lech Poznań UAM Women, a university-affiliated team from the capital of Wielkopolska, responded with disciplined defending and sharp counter-attacks.

The visitors took a surprise lead in the first half, only for Śląsk to equalise before the interval. Lech Poznań restored their advantage after the break, and it looked as though they might hold on for a famous away win until Śląsk found a late leveller to salvage a point.

Key Moments

• 19' — Lech Poznań take the lead: A perfectly weighted through-ball is finished with a low shot across the goalkeeper.
• 38' — Śląsk Wrocław equalise: A corner is headed home at the back post after a well-rehearsed set-piece routine.
• 54' — Lech Poznań regain the advantage: Their striker pounces on a defensive mix-up and slots the ball into an empty net.
• 71' — Big chance for Śląsk: The Wrocław forward breaks through but is denied by a fine save.
• 86' — Late equaliser: Śląsk finally break through again, with a substitute firing home from the edge of the box.

Tactical Story

Śląsk Wrocław Women dominated possession for large periods, playing a patient 4-3-3 that sought to stretch Lech Poznań UAM Women horizontally before penetrating through the middle. Their full-backs were heavily involved in the attacking build-up, and that width eventually told in the form of two goals from wide situations. However, Śląsk's high defensive line was repeatedly exposed by Lech's direct running, which is how the visitors scored both of their goals.

Lech Poznań UAM Women were well organised out of possession, dropping into a mid-block and looking to transition quickly. Their two goals were textbook counter-attacking moves. In the end, though, their inability to keep the ball in the closing stages invited too much pressure, and Śląsk's persistence paid off with the late equaliser.

Standout Players

Śląsk Wrocław's substitute made a decisive impact, scoring the 86th-minute equaliser and adding energy to the attack. Their central defender was also strong in the air and scored the first goal. For Lech Poznań UAM Women, the forward who scored the second goal was a constant threat with her movement and finishing, while the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep her team in front for as long as they were.

What the Result Means

The draw keeps both teams in contention in the Women's Ekstraliga standings, though each will feel they could have taken more. Śląsk Wrocław Women remain a force at home and showed character to come from behind twice. Lech Poznań UAM Women demonstrated that they can compete with the league's bigger names and will take confidence from a strong away performance, even if the late goal denied them a memorable victory.
