Stargard Szczecinski secured a 3-1 home win over Grom Nowy Staw in Poland Liga 3, combining attacking quality with a strong second-half performance to take all three points. The result underlined Stargard’s ability to control spells of the game and punish opponents when chances arrive.

Match overview

Stargard began the match with purpose and took the lead early, pressing Grom back and finding space in the wide areas. The visitors responded well, though, and equalised midway through the first half with a well-worked move that exposed a brief lapse in concentration. The goal gave Grom confidence, but Stargard regained control before the break and restored their advantage with a composed finish inside the penalty area.

The second half was a more controlled affair. Stargard managed the tempo better, kept possession with greater patience and limited Grom’s opportunities to counter. The home side’s third goal arrived late in the game, sealing the victory and ensuring there would be no tense finale.

Key moments

The opening goal set the tone for Stargard’s attacking intent, but Grom’s equaliser was a reminder of their threat from transition. The decisive moment came shortly before half-time when Stargard regained the lead, a goal that shifted the momentum firmly back in the home side’s favour. In the second half, Stargard’s goalkeeper made an important save at 2-1 to deny Grom a route back into the contest, before the third goal put the result beyond doubt.

Tactical story

Stargard’s midfield balance was key to the win. They were aggressive in the tackle but also composed in possession, allowing them to sustain pressure and recover quickly when attacks broke down. Grom defended in numbers and looked dangerous on the break, but they were forced deeper as the match wore on. Stargard’s willingness to use the full width of the pitch stretched the visitors and created space for late runners into the box.

Standout players

Stargard’s attacking players shared the responsibility well, with the forward line linking neatly and the midfield providing consistent service. The central defender who organised the back line deserves credit for steadying the team after the equaliser. Grom’s best performers were their goalkeeper, who made several saves, and their midfielder who drove the team forward during their strongest spell of the match.

League impact

The three points strengthen Stargard Szczecinski’s position in the Liga 3 table and give the squad confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. Grom Nowy Staw will be disappointed to leave empty-handed, but their first-half response showed enough to suggest they can compete in the division. The challenge now is consistency: Stargard must build on the win, while Grom need to turn promising spells into points.
