Polonia Lidzbark 1-0 KTS Weszlo: Late Goal Secures Hard-Fought Liga 3 Victory

Polonia Lidzbark claimed a narrow 1-0 win over KTS Weszlo in their Poland Liga 3 clash on September 27, 2026, with a second-half strike proving enough to separate two evenly matched sides. The result lifts Polonia Lidzbark into a more comfortable position in the league standings, while KTS Weszlo are left to rue a missed opportunity to take points on the road.

Match Overview

Played under cool autumn conditions, the contest was a typical third-tier battle: compact midfields, limited space, and few clear-cut chances. Polonia Lidzbark started with intent, pressing high and forcing KTS Weszlo into several early turnovers. However, the visitors defended resiliently, dropping into a low block and looking to spring counterattacks through their wide players. The first half ended goalless, with both goalkeepers largely untroubled.

After the break, Polonia Lidzbark increased the tempo, pushing their full-backs higher and committing more bodies forward. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 67th minute when a well-worked move down the right ended with a low cross into the box. Striker Kamil Wiśniewski reacted quickest, turning the ball past the KTS Weszlo goalkeeper from close range to send the home supporters into celebration.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Polonia Lidzbark’s first meaningful effort — a dipping shot from 20 yards that flew just over the crossbar.
• 34th minute: KTS Weszlo’s best chance of the first half, a free-kick headed wide at the back post.
• 67th minute: Kamil Wiśniewski scores the only goal, finishing calmly after a flowing team move.
• 82nd minute: KTS Weszlo push forward and force a corner, but the resulting header is cleared off the line by Polonia’s captain.
• 90+3rd minute: A final KTS Weszlo free-kick sails harmlessly over, sealing the three points for the hosts.

Tactical Story

Polonia Lidzbark lined up in a 4-2-3-1, with the two holding midfielders tasked with recycling possession and breaking up KTS Weszlo’s transitions. Their full-backs provided width, while the attacking midfielder drifted inside to create overloads in central areas. The winning goal epitomised this approach: patient buildup, a switch of play, and a decisive cross from the right.

KTS Weszlo set up in a 4-4-2, looking to stay compact and hit on the break. They succeeded in frustrating their hosts for long periods but struggled to create quality chances of their own. Their best moments came from set pieces, yet a lack of numbers in the box meant they rarely tested the Polonia goalkeeper. As the game wore on, their defensive line dropped deeper, inviting pressure that eventually told.

Standout Players

Kamil Wiśniewski (Polonia Lidzbark): The match-winner was a constant nuisance for the KTS Weszlo defence, holding the ball up well and timing his run perfectly for the goal. He also tracked back diligently, helping his team see out the final minutes.

Bartosz Lewandowski (Polonia Lidzbark): The central defender produced a commanding display, winning aerial duels and making a crucial goal-line clearance in the 82nd minute. His leadership at the back was instrumental in preserving the clean sheet.

Marek Duda (KTS Weszlo): Despite the defeat, the visiting goalkeeper made several sharp saves to keep the scoreline respectable, including a one-on-one stop in the 74th minute.

Season Impact

The win moves Polonia Lidzbark up the Liga 3 table, giving them valuable momentum in what is always a congested promotion race. For KTS Weszlo, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency as they aim to climb away from the lower reaches of the standings. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Polonia Lidzbark hoping to build on this gritty performance and KTS Weszlo desperate to rediscover their attacking rhythm.
