Stal Rzeszow claimed a hard-fought 3-2 away victory over Miedz Legnica in Poland Liga 2, winning a five-goal contest that swung one way and then the other. The visitors showed composure in the final stages, scoring the decisive goal late on to take all three points from a difficult trip.

Match Overview

Miedz Legnica started with intent, looking to impose themselves on the game and dominate possession. But Stal Rzeszow were dangerous on the counterattack from the very beginning, and they took the lead with a crisp finish after breaking through the home defence. Miedz responded well, equalising midway through the first half with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box.

The second half was equally open. Stal regained the lead after a quick transition, only for Miedz to hit back once more and set up a tense finale. With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Stal found one final moment of quality, scoring the winner in the 84th minute and then defending resolutely to see out the result.

• 12th minute: Stal Rzeszow took the lead with a low finish after a fast break down the right.

• 54th minute: Stal restored their advantage, punishing a loose pass in midfield with a clinical counterattack.

Tactical Story

Miedz Legnica controlled long spells of possession but struggled to break down a compact and disciplined Stal Rzeszow defence. The hosts pushed their full-backs high and committed numbers forward, which left them vulnerable to quick counterattacks. Stal recognised this and repeatedly looked to play direct passes into the channels behind the Miedz back line.

Stal’s midfield worked tirelessly, closing down passing lanes and forcing Miedz into sideways passes. When they won the ball, they attacked with speed and precision. Miedz created enough chances to take something from the game, but their finishing and final decision-making let them down at key moments. Defensively, they will be disappointed with the goals they conceded, especially the late winner.

Standout Players

Stal’s attacking players were the difference. Their winger was a constant outlet on the break, while the centre-forward held the ball up well and brought others into play. The match-winner showed great composure for the decisive goal. For Miedz, the playmaker was at the heart of most of their best moves, and their striker worked hard to create space for others, but the team could not convert enough of their chances.

Stal’s goalkeeper also made important saves in the second half, including one strong stop to deny Miedz an equaliser in the closing minutes.

What It Means for the Table

The victory is a significant one for Stal Rzeszow in Poland Liga 2, lifting them up the standings and strengthening their push for promotion or a playoff place. Winning away against a strong opponent like Miedz Legnica is exactly the kind of result that builds momentum. For Miedz, the defeat is a setback, especially after twice fighting back to level the score. They remain a dangerous side, but they will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb the table consistently.

Both teams now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, with Stal looking to build on a valuable away win and Miedz aiming to respond quickly.
