Match overview

They doubled their advantage ten minutes before half-time, capitalising on a defensive mistake and finishing clinically. However, Mazovia regrouped, tightened their defence, and sealed the win in the 86th minute with a counterattacking goal that ended any hopes of a comeback.

Tactical story

Mazovia Minsk Mazowiecki were organised and patient in possession, using their midfield to dictate the tempo and their wingers to stretch Lechia's defence. They pressed high when out of possession and forced several turnovers in dangerous areas. Their two first-half goals came from exactly that kind of pressure, and their third was a textbook counterattack.

Lechia Tomaszow Mazowiecki improved after the break by pushing their full-backs higher and committing more bodies forward. The free-kick goal gave them momentum, but they left gaps at the back in search of an equaliser. Mazovia exploited those gaps late on, showing composure to finish the game off rather than sitting on their lead.

Standout players

Mazovia's attacking midfielder was the architect of much of his side's best play, assisting the opener and dictating the tempo. Their striker also impressed with a goal and relentless pressing. For Lechia, the free-kick scorer was their brightest spark, while their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

Season impact

The three points lift Mazovia Minsk Mazowiecki in the Poland Liga 3 table and reinforce their credentials as a side capable of competing at the top end of the division. Lechia Tomaszow Mazowiecki remain with work to do and will need to cut out defensive mistakes if they are to climb the standings. For Mazovia, the challenge now is to maintain this level of performance in the weeks ahead.
