Gedania Gdansk claimed a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over KS Lipno Steszew in Poland’s Liga 3 on Saturday evening, October 24, 2026. The visitors had to come from behind at the Stadion w Steszewie, but a composed second-half display and a late winning goal ensured they left with all three points in a competitive league fixture.

Match Overview

The game began with KS Lipno Steszew looking energetic in front of their home supporters. The hosts pressed early and were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Kacper Nowak capitalised on a loose ball in midfield and drove into the penalty area before finishing low past the Gedania goalkeeper. It was a goal that reflected Lipno’s direct approach and their willingness to attack quickly after turnovers.

Gedania Gdansk responded well rather than panicking. The visitors gradually established control of possession and began to find space on the flanks. Their equaliser arrived four minutes before half-time through Mateusz Zielinski, who rose highest to meet a corner and headed firmly into the net. That goal changed the mood of the match and gave Gedania a platform to build on after the interval.

Key Moments

• 23’ – KS Lipno Steszew 1-0: Kacper Nowak finished a quick counter-attack with a low effort into the bottom corner.
• 41’ – KS Lipno Steszew 1-1: Mateusz Zielinski equalised with a powerful header from a corner.
• 58’ – Lipno chance: The hosts nearly regained the lead, but a close-range shot was blocked by a last-ditch challenge.

• 90+3’ – Late save: Gedania’s goalkeeper produced a strong stop to deny Lipno a stoppage-time equaliser.

Tactical Story

Gedania Gdansk set up in a flexible 4-2-3-1 shape and grew into the game once they began winning second balls in midfield. Their full-backs pushed higher in the second half, stretching Lipno’s back line and creating space between the defensive and midfield lines. The winning goal came from exactly that kind of movement: a patient build-up followed by a well-timed run behind the defence.

KS Lipno Steszew, by contrast, relied on a 4-4-2 formation and looked most dangerous when they could attack quickly. However, as the match wore on, the hosts struggled to maintain possession and were forced deeper. Their defensive block held firm for long spells, but Gedania’s greater control in the final third eventually told.

Standout Performers

Mateusz Zielinski was central to Gedania’s comeback, not only for his equalising goal but also for his composure in midfield. Adam Kowalski deserves credit for his decisive contribution off the bench and his intelligent movement for the winner. For Lipno, Kacper Nowak was the brightest attacking outlet, while their goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the scoreline close.

League Impact

The result gives Gedania Gdansk an important away win and strengthens their position in the Liga 3 table. For KS Lipno Steszew, the defeat is a frustrating one because they competed well for long periods but were unable to hold on for a point. The home side will need to turn performances into results quickly, especially in matches against direct rivals, while Gedania will take confidence from their ability to win in difficult conditions.
