KS Energetyk ROW 2-1 Gawin Sleza Wroclaw: Home Side Grind Out Hard-Fought Victory

KS Energetyk ROW edged past Gawin Sleza Wroclaw 2-1 in Poland Liga 3 on Saturday, 10 October 2026, claiming three points on home soil in a match that was decided by fine margins and a disciplined second-half defensive display. The hosts led twice in the contest — the first time through a bright opening, the second through a decisive strike after the break — and then held firm as their opponents pressed for a late equaliser.

It was not a vintage performance by any means, but it was an effective one. Energetyk ROW combined periods of genuine attacking fluency with a stubbornness at the back that has become a feature of their home form this season.

Match Overview

The home side started on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Sleza Wroclaw into a series of hurried clearances. The opening goal arrived before the half-hour mark, and it came from exactly the kind of move the coaching staff would have drawn up: a recycled ball out to the right, a driven cross into the corridor between goalkeeper and defence, and a composed finish from Marcin Kubica at the near post.

Sleza's response was measured. They began to keep the ball more patiently, drawing Energetyk's midfield out of shape, and their persistence paid off when Pawel Dolinski found space at the far post to convert a deep cross shortly before the interval. At that stage, the visitors looked the more likely side to go on and win.

Whatever was said in the home dressing room at half-time clearly worked. Energetyk ROW emerged with greater urgency, regained control of the central third, and retook the lead in the 63rd minute when Tomasz Wrobel arrived late in the box to meet a cut-back from the left and sweep the ball home.

Key Moments

• 22' — Marcin Kubica opens the scoring for KS Energetyk ROW with a near-post finish.
• 41' — Pawel Dolinski equalises for Gawin Sleza Wroclaw from a deep cross.
• 63' — Tomasz Wrobel restores the home lead with a first-time strike from the edge of the area.
• 78' — Sleza's best chance of the second half is cleared off the line by an Energetyk defender.
• 90+3' — The hosts see out four minutes of stoppage time to secure the win.

Tactical Story

Energetyk ROW set up in a compact 4-4-2, happy to concede possession in wide areas while protecting the central corridor. That approach worked well in the first half-hour but became problematic once Sleza began switching play quickly and getting their full-backs high up the pitch.

The key adjustment after the break was a subtle one: Energetyk's wide midfielders dropped five yards deeper without the ball, giving the back four extra protection against the cross. That change limited Sleza's most reliable route to goal, and with the visitors' central striker increasingly isolated, the away side's attacking threat faded in the final twenty minutes.

Sleza Wroclaw will feel they had enough territory and enough set-piece situations to take something from the game. Their build-up play was tidy and their midfield rotations caused real problems, but a lack of a genuine cutting edge in the final third cost them dearly on a night when the margins were razor thin.

Standout Performers

Tomasz Wrobel was the match-winner and arguably the best player on the pitch, combining a high work rate with the composure to take his chance when it arrived. Marcin Kubica's opening goal was the product of intelligent movement, and the two of them look increasingly comfortable as a partnership.

At the other end, Energetyk's centre-back pairing deserves credit for the way they managed the closing stages. There was a crucial goal-line clearance at 2-1 and a string of headed clearances as Sleza loaded the box. For the visitors, Pawel Dolinski was their most dangerous outlet and took his goal well.

What It Means

Three points at home keeps KS Energetyk ROW moving in the right direction in the Poland Liga 3 table and extends a run of form that has made their ground a difficult place to visit. Results like this — not spectacular, but resilient — are often the foundation of a successful season.

Gawin Sleza Wroclaw leave with nothing despite a competent away performance. The challenge now is turning possession and territory into goals, because on this evidence the defensive organisation is good enough to keep them in most matches.
