Górnik Polkowice 0–1 Odra Bytom Odrzański — A second-half strike from Kamil Nowicki gave Odra Bytom Odrzański a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Górnik Polkowice in Poland Liga 3 on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

A tight, tactical battle

This was a match of few clear chances, decided by a single moment of quality. Górnik Polkowice, playing at home in front of around 700 supporters, enjoyed more possession but struggled to break down a disciplined Odra defence. The visitors sat deep, defended their box with numbers, and looked to hit on the counter. It was a classic away performance in a difficult league, and it earned them all three points.

The only goal arrived in the 67th minute. A quick Odra break down the right ended with a low cross into the area. The ball was only half-cleared, and Kamil Nowicki reacted quickest, taking a touch to control before firing a left-footed shot into the roof of the net from 12 yards. It was a finish of real composure, and it proved enough to separate the sides.

Key moments

• 22': Górnik’s best chance of the first half falls to striker Paweł Kaczmarek, but his header is tipped over the bar.
• 45+1': Odra almost take the lead on the stroke of half-time, but a goal-bound effort is cleared off the line.
• 67' — 0–1: Kamil Nowicki scores the winner with a low drive from the edge of the box.
• 84': Górnik push bodies forward, but Odra’s goalkeeper makes a smart save at the near post to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Górnik Polkowice lined up in a 4–2–3–1 and tried to play through the thirds, but Odra’s midfield two were disciplined and compact, denying space between the lines. The hosts’ wingers were forced wide, and their crosses were dealt with by a tall, well-organised back four. Odra’s game plan was clear: absorb pressure, stay compact, and strike on the break. It worked to perfection.

Górnik’s manager made attacking substitutions in the final 20 minutes, switching to a 4–4–2 with two strikers. It led to a late flurry of corners and half-chances, but Odra’s defence held firm. The visitors’ goalkeeper was called into action twice in the closing stages, but he was equal to everything, ensuring a valuable clean sheet.

Standout performers

Kamil Nowicki was the match-winner, his sharp movement and clinical finish the difference between the sides. Odra’s centre-back pairing of Marcin Górski and Łukasz Wieczorek were outstanding, winning everything in the air and blocking several shots. For Górnik, midfielder Tomasz Nowak worked tirelessly, but the team lacked a cutting edge in the final third.

Season impact

The victory lifts Odra Bytom Odrzański into a more promising position in the Poland Liga 3 standings and extends their unbeaten away run. Górnik Polkowice remain frustrated by their inconsistency at home, where they have now failed to score in consecutive matches. With the table still tightly packed, both sides know that fine margins will decide their seasons.
