Barycz Sulow 1-1 Stal Brzeg: Spoils Shared in Competitive Liga 3 Encounter

Barycz Sulow and Stal Brzeg played out a 1-1 draw in Poland's Liga 3 on October 11, 2026, in a match that was fiercely contested from start to finish. Both teams had periods of dominance, but neither could find a winning goal in the closing stages.

The draw is a fair reflection of a game where defences largely came out on top, though there were moments of real quality in the final third. Barycz remain unbeaten at home in recent weeks, while Stal Brzeg continue to grind out results away from home.

Match Overview

Stal Brzeg started the stronger and took the lead in the 22nd minute. A well-worked move down the left ended with a cross to the back post, where the winger volleyed home from close range. Barycz Sulow responded well, gradually taking control of midfield and equalising in the 41st minute. A free-kick from the right was only half-cleared, and the ball was rifled into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The second half was a midfield battle, with both teams creating half-chances but failing to find the decisive touch. Barycz pushed late for a winner, forcing a series of corners, but Stal Brzeg's defence held firm. A late red card for a second bookable offence reduced Stal to ten men, but they weathered the final minutes.

Key Moments

• 22' – Stal Brzeg goal: A back-post volley opens the scoring.
• 41' – Barycz Sulow equaliser: A half-cleared free-kick is smashed in from 18 yards.
• 68' – Barycz close: A header from a corner hits the side netting.
• 84' – Stal down to ten: A second yellow card leaves the visitors a man short.

Tactical Story

Barycz Sulow set up in a 4-2-3-1 and looked to dominate possession, while Stal Brzeg used a 4-4-2 with a mid-block. The visitors' goal came from their only real spell of pressure in the first half, but they defended deep thereafter. Barycz's full-backs pushed high to create overloads, but the final ball was often lacking.

The red card changed the dynamic, forcing Stal Brzeg into a 4-4-1 formation. They defended their box with determination, clearing everything that came their way. Barycz will feel they should have won given the numerical advantage, but Stal's resilience earned them a point.

Standout Players

Barycz Sulow central midfielder: Dictated play and scored the equaliser with a crisp strike.

Stal Brzeg winger: Scored the opening goal and was a threat on the counter before being substituted.

Stal Brzeg goalkeeper: Made several important saves in the second half to preserve the draw.

Table and Season Impact

The point keeps both teams in mid-table in Liga 3, with Barycz Sulow showing improvement at home and Stal Brzeg proving difficult to beat on their travels. With the season still young, both sides will look to turn draws into wins if they are to push for promotion or avoid a relegation scrap.
