Yanapuma 3-1 Atletico Andahuaylas: Ruthless Hosts Make Their Quality Tell in Liga Femenina

Yanapuma produced a dominant performance in the Peruvian Liga Femenina on 20 September 2026, defeating Atletico Andahuaylas 3-1 in a match that showcased the hosts' attacking quality and their growing reputation as one of the most dangerous sides in the division.

From the opening whistle, the home side looked sharper, quicker and more confident in possession. Their movement off the ball caused Atletico Andahuaylas constant problems, and the three-goal haul was a fair reflection of the balance of play over the course of the 90 minutes.

Match Overview

Yanapuma began the match with real intensity, pressing their opponents high and forcing early errors. The breakthrough came after a period of sustained pressure, with a cleverly worked attacking move ending in a confident finish that gave the home side a deserved lead.

Atletico Andahuaylas, to their credit, responded with a spell of pressure of their own and managed to pull a goal back, briefly giving the visitors hope. But Yanapuma reasserted control almost immediately, restoring their advantage with a well-taken goal before half-time and then adding a third after the break to put the result beyond doubt.

Key Moments

• The opener: Yanapuma's high press forced a turnover and a quick exchange of passes opened the scoring.
• Andahuaylas equaliser: A determined attacking move down the right produced a fine finish and levelled the game.
• Restoring the lead: The hosts responded almost instantly, with a composed finish from inside the box.
• Sealing the win: A third goal after the interval ended any hope of a comeback for the visitors.

Tactical Story

Yanapuma set up in an energetic, attacking formation, with their wide players hugging the touchline to stretch the opposition defence and their central midfielders arriving late in the box to support attacks. The hosts' transitions from defence to attack were particularly impressive — they moved the ball forward with purpose and were not afraid to shoot from distance.

Atletico Andahuaylas struggled to cope with Yanapuma's tempo for long spells. They defended in a deep block for much of the match, which limited the space behind but invited pressure, and their attempts to counter-attack were too often snuffed out by the hosts' diligent midfield pressing.

Standout Players

Yanapuma's forwards were the stars of the show, combining well throughout and finishing with real conviction. The player who opened the scoring set the tone with her relentless pressing, while the midfielder who provided two assists demonstrated excellent vision and technical quality.

For Atletico Andahuaylas, the goalscorer was a constant threat on the break and took her chance well. The goalkeeper, despite conceding three, made several important stops that prevented the margin from becoming even wider, and the team's captain showed leadership in a difficult away fixture.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens Yanapuma's position in the upper reaches of the Liga Femenina table and underlines their credentials as a side capable of challenging for honours. Home form is the foundation of any successful campaign, and three goals and three points will do wonders for confidence.

Atletico Andahuaylas will be disappointed with the defeat but can draw on the positive moments in their performance, particularly the equalising goal. If they can tighten up defensively and find greater consistency over 90 minutes, they have the attacking tools to climb the standings as the season progresses.
