FBC Melgar Women produced a devastating attacking display in the PER Liga Femenina, thrashing Carlos Mannucci W 8-0 in a match that was effectively decided inside the first half. The home side scored at regular intervals, overwhelmed their opponents with quick combinations, and maintained their intensity even after the result was beyond doubt.

Match overview

Melgar started with purpose and never allowed Mannucci to settle. The midfield pressed high, the wingers attacked the spaces behind the full-backs, and the striker’s movement created constant confusion in the penalty area. Mannucci tried to defend with a deep block, but the sheer volume of Melgar’s attacks made it impossible to keep the score respectable.

By the break, Melgar had already built a commanding lead. The second half followed a similar pattern: Melgar controlled possession, Mannucci dropped deeper, and the goals continued to arrive through a mix of open-play moves and set pieces.

Key moments

• 6th minute: Fiorella Quintana opened the scoring with a low finish after a quick exchange on the edge of the box.
• 18th minute: Camila Mamani doubled the lead with a header from a corner.
• 31st minute: Quintana added her second, finishing off a flowing team move down the left.

• 63rd minute: Quintana completed her hat-trick with a composed one-on-one finish.

• 85th minute: A late own goal completed the rout.

Tactical story

Melgar’s attacking structure was built on width and quick rotations. The wingers stayed high and wide, stretching Mannucci’s back line, while the central midfielders made late runs into the box. That movement created a steady supply of cut-back opportunities, and Melgar’s finishing was clinical throughout.

Mannucci’s defensive approach was cautious but ultimately counterproductive. With only one forward pressing, Melgar’s defenders had time to step forward and initiate attacks. Mannucci also struggled to close down crosses, and their goalkeeper was exposed repeatedly as the home side poured players forward.

Standout players

Quintana was the standout with a hat-trick, showcasing sharp movement and calm finishing. Mamani added two goals and was a constant aerial threat, while Bravo controlled the midfield and contributed a spectacular goal. Melgar’s full-backs also deserve praise for their relentless overlapping runs, which stretched Mannucci’s defence throughout the match.

For Mannucci, the afternoon was one to forget, but the goalkeeper made several saves and the young players in the side gained valuable experience against a ruthless opponent. The visitors will need to improve their defensive compactness and their ability to keep possession under pressure.

Season impact

The emphatic win gives Melgar a significant boost in the PER Liga Femenina standings and a healthy goal-difference advantage. It also reinforces their reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous attacking teams. Mannucci must regroup quickly, but the scale of the defeat underlines the work required to compete with the league’s top sides.
