Alianza Lima (w) claimed a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory over FBC Melgar Women in the PER Liga Femenina, extending their strong run of form and reinforcing their credentials as one of the top sides in Peruvian women's football. The single goal came in the first half and proved enough to separate two well-organised teams.

Match Overview

Alianza Lima started brightly, dominating possession and dictating the tempo from the opening minutes. Their midfield trio moved the ball quickly, probing for gaps in the Melgar defence. The breakthrough arrived after a sustained period of pressure, when a precise through-ball split the defence and the forward finished confidently past the onrushing goalkeeper.

FBC Melgar Women responded well after conceding, tightening up at the back and creating a few half-chances of their own. However, they struggled to find a clear sight of goal, with Alianza Lima's back four standing firm. The second half was more balanced, but the home side managed the game intelligently to secure the clean sheet and all three points.

Key Moments

• Winning goal: A slick passing move ended with a composed finish inside the penalty area, giving Alianza Lima the lead.
• Melgar's best chance: A free-kick from the edge of the box forced a fine save from the Alianza goalkeeper just before half-time.
• Late defence: Melgar pushed forward in the final 10 minutes, but Alianza Lima's defenders cleared every dangerous ball.

Tactical Story: Control and Precision

Alianza Lima lined up in a flexible 4-3-3, with the wingers hugging the touchline to stretch Melgar's defence. Their full-backs overlapped frequently, creating overloads in wide areas. The winning goal came from a central overload that drew Melgar's midfield out of position, leaving space for the decisive pass.

FBC Melgar Women tried to press high in the second half, but Alianza Lima's goalkeeper and defenders were calm in possession, often playing through the press. When Melgar did win the ball back, they were met by a well-drilled defensive block that forced them into wide areas and speculative crosses. It was a mature, disciplined performance from the league leaders.

Standout Players

The Alianza Lima goalscorer was the obvious heroine, taking her chance with real quality. The central midfielder controlled the game with intelligent passing and positional discipline, while the goalkeeper made a crucial save to preserve the lead. For FBC Melgar Women, their captain and centre-back was excellent, reading the game well and making several important interceptions.

Season Impact and Table Context

The 1-0 win keeps Alianza Lima (w) firmly in contention at the top of the PER Liga Femenina standings, with their defensive record continuing to impress. FBC Melgar Women remain a competitive outfit but will be frustrated not to have taken at least a point from a game where they defended resolutely for long periods. The result adds another chapter to one of the most intriguing rivalries in Peruvian women's football.

What's Next

Alianza Lima will aim to maintain their momentum in the coming fixtures, while Melgar will work on sharpening their attacking play in training. With the season progressing, both teams know that every point matters in the race for the title.
