Unión Comercio 5-0 Ayacucho FC: Hosts Run Riot in Peruvian Liga 2 Masterclass

Deportivo Unión Comercio produced one of the most emphatic performances of the Peruvian Liga 2 season on October 13, 2026, dismantling Ayacucho FC 5-0 at the Estadio Regional de Moyobamba. The victory sends a clear message to the rest of the division: the Moyobamba outfit are serious contenders for promotion, and on this evidence they will take some stopping.

The match, played in front of a passionate home crowd, was effectively decided inside the opening half-hour. Unión Comercio pressed high, moved the ball with purpose, and punished every defensive lapse from an Ayacucho side that never found its rhythm. By the time the final whistle blew, the scoreline flattered the visitors rather than the hosts.

Match Overview

Competition: Peruvian Liga 2
Fixture: Deportivo Unión Comercio vs. Ayacucho FC
Date: October 13, 2026
Venue: Estadio Regional de Moyobamba
Final Score: Unión Comercio 5-0 Ayacucho FC

Unión Comercio came into the game with a reputation for being difficult to beat at home, and they wasted little time asserting their authority. Ayacucho FC, by contrast, arrived looking to frustrate the hosts and hit on the counter, but their plan unravelled almost immediately after kick-off.

Key Moments: How the Rout Unfolded

• 12th minute – 1-0: The deadlock was broken early when a swift passing move down the right ended with a low cross into the box. Unión Comercio's striker Kevin Sánchez arrived at the perfect moment to slot the ball past the Ayacucho goalkeeper.
• 28th minute – 2-0: The lead was doubled from a set piece. A whipped corner from the left was met by centre-back Jorge Tapia, whose thumping header gave the visiting keeper no chance.
• 45+1st minute – 3-0: Just before half-time, Ayacucho's defence was caught ball-watching. Diego Ramírez latched onto a through-ball, rounded the goalkeeper, and rolled it into an empty net to effectively end the contest.
• 67th minute – 4-0: After the break, Unión Comercio remained ruthless. Sánchez grabbed his second of the night with a composed finish after a driving run from midfield by Luis Acuy.
• 88th minute – 5-0: The rout was completed late on when substitute Marco Rodríguez curled a beautiful effort into the top corner from the edge of the area, capping a memorable evening for the home supporters.

Tactical Story: Press, Possession, and Punishment

Unión Comercio set up in a 4-2-3-1 that morphed into a relentless attacking force whenever they won the ball back. Their midfield duo pressed Ayacucho's ball-carriers aggressively, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The front four interchanged constantly, dragging the visitors' back line out of shape and creating overloads on the flanks.

Ayacucho FC, meanwhile, struggled to string more than three passes together. Their attempts to play out from the back were consistently smothered, and when they did manage to break the initial press, the final ball was hurried and inaccurate. Defensively, they sat too deep, inviting wave after wave of Unión Comercio attacks. The lack of a cohesive offside trap was exposed repeatedly, most notably for the third goal.

By the second half, the game was a training exercise for the hosts. Unión Comercio managed the tempo intelligently, conserving energy while still creating chances. Ayacucho's only real threat came from a couple of long-range efforts that never seriously troubled the home goalkeeper.

Standout Players

• Kevin Sánchez (Unión Comercio): A brace and a constant menace. His movement in the box was too clever for Ayacucho's defenders, and he linked play effectively with the midfield.
• Jorge Tapia (Unión Comercio): Dominant in the air and composed on the ball. His goal was the highlight of a commanding defensive display that kept a clean sheet.
• Diego Ramírez (Unión Comercio): Full of running and directness. His goal just before half-time was the killer blow, and he tormented the right-back all evening.
• Luis Acuy (Unión Comercio): The engine room. He won possession repeatedly and drove his team forward with intelligent passing.

For Ayacucho FC, there were very few positives. Their goalkeeper made a string of saves to keep the score from reaching double figures, and the captain tried to rally his teammates, but the gap in quality was painfully evident.
