Bentin Tacna Heroica and Universidad San Martin shared the points after a 0-0 draw in Peruvian Liga 2, a match that delivered tension and tactical discipline but no goals. Both sides had spells of control, yet neither could find the decisive touch in the final third.

Match overview

Bentin Tacna Heroica started the brighter of the two teams, pressing high and forcing Universidad San Martin into early mistakes. The hosts created the first meaningful chance in the 18th minute, but a header from a corner drifted just wide. San Martin grew into the game and began to keep possession more comfortably, though clear openings remained rare.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Bentin pushed bodies forward in search of a winner, while San Martin looked to counter through the wide areas. Both goalkeepers were called into action, but the final ball was missing on a night when the defenses held firm.

Tactical story

Bentin Tacna Heroica were direct and aggressive, looking to win the ball high and attack quickly. Their full-backs pushed forward regularly, but that also left space for San Martin to exploit on the counter. San Martin were more patient in possession and tried to draw the hosts out before playing through the lines.

In the end, the defenses and goalkeepers deserved credit. Bentin’s back line dealt well with crosses, while San Martin’s midfield screened the central areas effectively. It was not a classic, but it was a competitive Liga 2 encounter with plenty of tactical discipline.

Standout players

Both goalkeepers produced important saves to preserve the clean sheet. Bentin’s central defenders were strong in the air, and San Martin’s midfield anchor helped control the tempo during the visitors’ better spells. The attacking players on both sides worked hard, but lacked the final pass.

Table and season impact

A point apiece keeps both teams moving in the Peruvian Liga 2 standings, though neither will be fully satisfied with a draw. For Bentin Tacna Heroica, the result extends their home resilience; for Universidad San Martin, it is another useful away point in a tightly contested promotion race. The head-to-head remains difficult to separate, and both sides will look to convert more chances in their next fixtures.
