Braga Women secured a convincing 2-0 away victory over Racing Power Women in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino on 17 October 2026, using superior control and two well-timed goals to take all three points.

Match overview

Braga Women entered the contest with a clear plan: dominate possession, stretch Racing Power Women with wide overloads, and win the ball back quickly whenever it was lost. The visitors executed that approach with maturity, building patiently before accelerating through the final third. Racing Power worked hard to stay in the game, but they struggled to maintain possession long enough to relieve pressure.

Braga’s opener came after a period of sustained control, and the second goal after the break gave them the cushion they needed. Racing Power improved in spells and forced a few saves, but Braga’s defensive discipline and game management ensured there would be no late comeback.

Key moments

• Braga’s control: The visitors dictated the early tempo and forced Racing Power into deep defensive positions.
• Opening goal: Braga’s wide play created the breakthrough, with a low cross converted from close range.
• Racing Power response: The hosts enjoyed their best spell before the hour, testing Braga’s goalkeeper from distance and set pieces.
• Second goal: Braga won possession in midfield and countered quickly to double the lead.
• Late management: The visitors slowed the game, protected their clean sheet, and limited Racing Power to speculative efforts.

Tactical story

Braga’s 4-3-3 structure gave them width in possession and compactness without the ball. Their midfield trio controlled the second balls, while the front three repeatedly pinned Racing Power’s back line. The away side’s pressing was not reckless; instead, Braga waited for triggers and then attacked the space behind Racing Power’s midfield.

Racing Power’s best route into the match was through direct play and set pieces. They caused occasional problems with deliveries into the box, but Braga’s central defenders dealt with the aerial threat well. The home side’s inability to sustain attacks ultimately allowed Braga to control the rhythm of the second half.

Standout performers and season impact

Braga’s wide attacker was a constant outlet, combining pace with intelligent movement between the lines. The midfield anchor also impressed, breaking up play and starting attacks with simple, effective passes. For Racing Power, the goalkeeper kept the scoreline respectable with a string of saves, while their captain worked tirelessly in midfield.

The win keeps Braga Women in strong position in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino standings and underlines their credentials as a team capable of competing at the top. Racing Power, meanwhile, will need to turn home fixtures into points quickly if they are to climb the table and build momentum in the coming weeks.
