Resistencia SC's home fixture against Deportivo Santani ended in a 2-1 defeat on 27 September 2026, with the visitors leaving with all three points after a performance built on efficiency in front of goal. In the tightly packed Paraguayan Division Intermedia, dropping points at home is costly, and this result hands Deportivo Santani a valuable away win in the race for promotion.

Match Overview

Resistencia SC began the evening looking to impose themselves on the game and use the width of their home pitch to stretch the Santani back line. The intent was clear from the opening exchanges, with quick ball circulation and aggressive pressing in the middle third. Deportivo Santani, however, were content to concede possession in harmless areas and wait for their moments — and those moments arrived.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Deportivo Santani struck first, punishing a loose ball in midfield with a direct run and a composed finish into the bottom corner.
• Resistencia response: The equaliser arrived after sustained pressure, with a well-worked move down the right ending in a low strike that beat the goalkeeper at the near post.
• The winner: Santani restored their advantage in the second half, converting from a set-piece situation that Resistencia failed to clear decisively.
• Late siege: Resistencia threw bodies forward in the final fifteen minutes, but the visitors defended their box with real commitment, blocking shots and clearing their lines.

Tactical Story

Resistencia SC's approach was proactive: a high defensive line, full-backs pushed on, and midfielders arriving late in the box. It produced chances but also left space behind, and Santani's forwards repeatedly targeted that area with long, diagonal passes. The away side's game plan was textbook counter-attacking football — sit compact, win the second ball, and attack quickly before the defensive block could reset.

The decisive factor in the second half was set-piece defending. Resistencia had dealt reasonably well with open play but struggled with deliveries into the box, and the winning goal came precisely from that source. From there, Santani dropped their line, slowed the tempo, and managed the closing stages with the kind of game management that wins tight away fixtures.

Standout Performers

Deportivo Santani's goalkeeper produced two important saves at 1-1, the type of intervention that keeps a team in a match before the winning goal arrives. Their centre-forward was relentless in pressing and hold-up play, while the midfield anchor controlled the rhythm of the counter-attacks.

Resistencia SC will take encouragement from their attacking patterns and the energy of their wide players, but the defensive lapses will dominate the post-match review. The team's leading creative midfielder was at the heart of most of their best moves and delivered a string of dangerous deliveries that went unconverted.

League Impact

The result swings momentum in Deportivo Santani's favour and adds pressure to Resistencia SC's campaign. A 1-2 home defeat is the sort of scoreline that can define a season's narrative in the Division Intermedia, where the difference between a promotion push and mid-table obscurity is often just a handful of points. Resistencia will need to tighten up defensively and rediscover their scoring touch at home; Santani, meanwhile, will travel with confidence after proving they can take maximum points on the road.
