Presidente Hayes claimed a 2-1 victory over Silvio Pettirossi in a fiercely contested Paraguayan Tercera División clash, edging a match that swung back and forth before the hosts finally asserted their authority. It was a result built on resilience as much as quality, with Presidente Hayes recovering from setbacks to take all three points in front of their own supporters.

Match Overview

Matches between these two historic Asunción-area clubs always carry extra significance. Presidente Hayes, one of the oldest institutions in Paraguayan football, and Silvio Pettirossi, a club named in honour of the pioneering Paraguayan aviator, share a long tradition of developing local talent and competing with pride in the lower reaches of the national pyramid. Fixtures between them are typically tight, physical and decided by small details.

This encounter followed that script almost perfectly. Both sides traded spells of pressure, the midfield battle was intense, and the difference ultimately came down to which team was more ruthless in the decisive moments. Presidente Hayes were that team, converting their chances at the moments that mattered most.

Key Moments

• First goal: Presidente Hayes opened the scoring with a well-executed attacking sequence, finding space between the lines and finishing with composure.
• Response: Silvio Pettirossi hit back, raising the tempo and grabbing an equaliser that momentarily silenced the home crowd.
• Decisive strike: Presidente Hayes regained the lead, and this time they made it count, defending their advantage with discipline and determination.
• Final phase: Silvio Pettirossi pushed numbers forward in search of a late leveller, but the home defence held firm through a nervy closing period.

Tactical Story

Presidente Hayes set up to dominate possession in midfield, using short, quick passes to draw Silvio Pettirossi out of their defensive shape. Their attacking width was a key weapon, with the full-backs overlapping regularly and creating two-on-one situations on the flanks. The winning goal arrived from exactly this kind of pattern, a move that stretched the visiting defence before a decisive final ball.

Silvio Pettirossi, meanwhile, were at their most dangerous in transition. Their equaliser came from a rapid counter-attack that caught the home side committed forward, and it highlighted the importance of managing risk when pushing for goals. In the end, though, they were unable to reproduce that cutting edge often enough to take something from the game.

Standout Performers

The Presidente Hayes goalscorers will rightly take the headlines, but the performance of the midfield was just as important. Their ability to win second balls and recycle possession kept the pressure on the visitors for long stretches. In defence, the central pairing dealt well with the aerial threat posed by Silvio Pettirossi's forwards, clearing their lines repeatedly under pressure.

For Silvio Pettirossi, the goalscorer was the standout figure, showing intelligence to find space and finish calmly on the counter. Their goalkeeper also made a string of saves to keep the scoreline close, ensuring the match remained in the balance until the final whistle.

Season Impact

In the Tercera División, where every point contributes to the fight for promotion and the battle to avoid the drop, home victories are the foundation of a successful campaign. This result gives Presidente Hayes momentum and reinforces the value of their home ground as a fortress. Silvio Pettirossi, for their part, will take encouragement from the competitiveness of their display but will be frustrated at leaving empty-handed after contributing so much to an entertaining contest.
