Martín Ledesma and 1º de Marzo FDM played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Paraguayan Third Division on Saturday, October 3, 2026, a result that left both sides with a sense of missed opportunity. On a warm evening, the hosts took the lead through a well-worked first-half goal but were pegged back after the interval as 1º de Marzo raised their intensity and found an equaliser. Neither team could force a winner in the closing stages, despite a frantic finale.

Match Overview

Martín Ledesma started the brighter of the two sides, pressing high and forcing early turnovers in midfield. Their reward came midway through the first half when a slick passing move opened up the 1º de Marzo defence. The visitors responded well before the break, creating two half-chances from set pieces, but went into half-time trailing. After the restart, 1º de Marzo pushed more players forward and equalised with a composed finish, setting up a tense final half-hour.

Key Moments

• 23rd minute: Óscar Benítez gave Martín Ledesma the lead, finishing first-time after a low cross from the left.
• 45th minute: 1º de Marzo's best chance of the first half ended with a header flashing wide from a corner.
• 67th minute: Julio César Rojas equalised for the visitors, controlling a long ball before slotting calmly past the goalkeeper.
• 88th minute: Martín Ledesma nearly won it late, but a goal-line clearance denied them a dramatic winner.

Tactical Story

Martín Ledesma lined up in a 4-4-2 and looked to attack quickly through the channels, targeting the space behind 1º de Marzo's advanced full-backs. That approach worked well for the opening half-hour, but as the game wore on, the hosts dropped deeper and invited pressure. 1º de Marzo switched to a more direct style after the break, using their striker as a focal point and pushing the wingers inside to overload the penalty area.

The visitors' equaliser came from exactly that pattern: a long ball forward, a knock-down, and a composed finish. Both managers made attacking substitutions in the final 20 minutes, but the defences held firm. A series of late corners and free-kicks produced no further goals, and the referee's final whistle was greeted with frustration by the home supporters.

Standout Players

Óscar Benítez was Martín Ledesma's most dangerous outlet, scoring the opening goal and linking play intelligently. In midfield, captain Rodrigo Villalba worked tirelessly to break up attacks. For 1º de Marzo FDM, Julio César Rojas was the obvious hero with his equaliser, while centre-back Aníbal Cáceres made several crucial interceptions to keep the score level. Both goalkeepers contributed important saves in the second half.

Season Impact

The draw keeps both clubs in the chasing pack of the PAR D3 table, though each will feel it was two points dropped rather than one gained. Martín Ledesma remain difficult to beat at home but need to convert dominant spells into victories. 1º de Marzo FDM showed character to come from behind, a trait that could prove valuable in a long promotion race. The next round offers both sides a chance to return to winning ways.
