Sportivo Ameliano Women 4-2 Club Rubio Ñu W — the Paraguayan Cup Cup Women delivered one of the most entertaining matches of the round on Thursday night, as Ameliano outlasted a stubborn Rubio Ñu side in a six-goal contest that swung one way, then the other, before the hosts finally pulled clear in the closing stages.

Match Overview

Played under the lights at 02:00 local kick-off time, the game promised cup football at its most urgent, and it delivered. Sportivo Ameliano Women started with the confidence of a team that knows its home ground, pressing high and forcing Rubio Ñu into early turnovers in midfield. Within the opening half-hour the hosts had established a two-goal cushion, moving the ball quickly through the wide areas and attacking the back post on nearly every crossing opportunity.

Club Rubio Ñu W, however, are not a side that folds easily. A goal shortly before the interval cut the deficit and gave the visitors a foothold they had barely deserved on the balance of play. When they levelled early in the second half, the tie briefly looked as though it might slip away from Ameliano entirely.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Ameliano broke the deadlock with a well-worked move down the right, finished first-time inside the penalty area.
• Double lead: A second goal before the half-hour mark doubled the advantage and forced Rubio Ñu to change shape.
• Lifeline: Rubio Ñu pulled one back before the break, converting from a set piece that the Ameliano defence failed to clear convincingly.
• Equaliser: Early in the second half the visitors levelled, punishing a loose pass in midfield with a swift counter-attack.
• Late surge: Ameliano restored the lead with a clinical finish and sealed the result with a fourth goal as Rubio Ñu pushed bodies forward.

Tactical Story

The match turned on Ameliano's willingness to keep attacking after being pegged back. Rather than dropping deeper to protect the draw, the hosts pushed their full-backs higher and overloaded the flanks, stretching a Rubio Ñu back line that had already spent long spells chasing the ball. That decision created the space for the third and fourth goals, both of which came from moves that started in wide areas and ended with unmarked runners arriving in the box.

Rubio Ñu will point to their own efficiency in the middle third. Two goals from two genuine periods of pressure is a respectable return, and their response after falling two behind showed real character. The problem was defensive: too many second balls were lost in front of their own penalty area, and each time Ameliano regained possession in those zones, the visitors looked vulnerable.

Standout Performers

Ameliano's attacking unit shared the load, with the forward line rotating positions constantly and making it difficult for Rubio Ñu's centre-backs to track runners. The midfield anchor was equally important, breaking up play and setting the tempo for the late surge. For Rubio Ñu, the goalkeeper kept the score respectable with a series of stops, while the goalscorers demonstrated the kind of ruthlessness that makes them dangerous in any remaining cup fixtures.

What It Means

A 4-2 win in cup football is worth more than three points — it is a statement about firepower and about the ability to respond when a match turns against you. Sportivo Ameliano Women move forward with confidence and a healthy goal difference, while Club Rubio Ñu W leave with the knowledge that they can compete in this competition but must tighten up defensively if they are to turn narrow defeats into results.
