Dhofar SCSC Beat Fanja SC 2-0 in Oman Federation Cup

Dhofar SCSC secured a 2-0 victory over Fanja SC in the Oman Federation Cup on 20 September 2026, delivering a controlled performance in front of their home support. The win underlined Dhofar's cup ambitions and left Fanja with an uphill task in the competition.

The match began at 21:40 and Dhofar quickly established themselves as the more proactive side. They moved the ball with purpose, pushed their full-backs high, and created chances through combinations on the flanks. Fanja sat deeper and looked to counter, but they struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve pressure.

Match Overview

Dhofar's breakthrough came in the first half after a sustained spell of pressure. A clever pass split the Fanja defence, and the finish was calm and precise. The second goal arrived after the break, effectively ending Fanja's hopes of a comeback. Dhofar managed the game well from that point, slowing the tempo when needed and protecting their clean sheet.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Dhofar broke the deadlock with a well-timed run and a low finish.
• Second-half control: Dhofar doubled the lead after pressing Fanja into a mistake.
• Defensive solidity: The home back line dealt with Fanja's crosses and set pieces comfortably.
• Late management: Dhofar kept possession in the final minutes to close out the 2-0 win.

Tactical Story

Dhofar's 4-2-3-1 shape gave them numerical advantages in midfield. Their central players rotated well, allowing the attacking midfielder to find pockets between Fanja's lines. Fanja's defensive block was organised at first, but the constant shifting of Dhofar's attack eventually created gaps.

Fanja's best moments came on the counter-attack. They tried to release their wingers into space, but Dhofar's centre-backs read the danger and snuffed out most opportunities. In possession, Fanja were too slow to move the ball forward, which allowed Dhofar to reset their defensive shape.

Standout Players

Dhofar's midfield anchor was influential, winning duels and recycling possession. The goalscorers took their chances well, while the goalkeeper's handling and command of the area preserved the clean sheet. For Fanja, the goalkeeper made a string of saves to keep the margin respectable, and their left-back was one of the few players able to carry the ball forward with confidence.

Cup Impact

The result gives Dhofar SCSC a strong platform in the Oman Federation Cup and boosts confidence ahead of their next fixture. Fanja SC will need to regroup quickly, improve their ball retention, and find more cutting edge in the final third if they are to progress. In cup football, the 2-0 scoreline is a clear statement: Dhofar were sharper, more disciplined, and more clinical when it mattered.
