Dhofar SCSC claimed a thrilling 3-2 away win over Ibri SCC in the Oman Professional League on 18 October 2026, winning a five-goal contest that swung one way and then the other. Dhofar’s attacking quality proved decisive, but Ibri’s refusal to fold made it a compelling night of league football and a result that could carry real significance in the standings.

Match overview

The visitors started with purpose and took the lead early, using quick combinations to open up Ibri’s defence. Ibri responded well, equalising after a spell of pressure and forcing Dhofar onto the back foot. The game settled into an end-to-end rhythm, with both teams committing numbers forward and leaving space for counter-attacks.

Dhofar moved ahead again before the break, but Ibri came back once more in the second half. At 2-2, the match looked destined for a share of the points. Instead, Dhofar found a late winner, punishing Ibri for a momentary lapse in concentration. The away side managed the closing minutes well and held on for a valuable three points.

Key moments

• Early breakthrough: Dhofar opened the scoring with a well-worked move and a confident finish.
• Ibri equalise: The hosts responded through a sustained attacking spell and a goal that lifted the home crowd.
• Dhofar regain the lead: A swift counter-attack restored the visitors’ advantage before half-time.
• 2-2: Ibri refused to go away and levelled again after the interval.
• Late winner: Dhofar struck the decisive goal in the closing stages, leaving Ibri with little time to respond.

Tactical story

Dhofar’s strength came from their speed in transition. Whenever Ibri lost the ball in midfield, the visitors looked to play forward immediately and attack the spaces around the home defence. That directness produced all three goals and kept Ibri from settling into a comfortable defensive rhythm. Dhofar were also clinical in the final third, which proved crucial in such an open game.

Ibri’s response was encouraging. They created chances through wide deliveries and set-piece situations, and their two goals were reward for persistence rather than luck. The home side’s problem was defensive security: every time they gained momentum, they conceded at the other end. In a match of fine margins, that inability to protect their box after equalising ultimately cost them.

Standout performers

Dhofar’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of his team’s best work, linking play and finding passes in crowded areas. Ibri’s centre-forward also produced a strong performance, holding the ball up and giving the home side a focal point in attack. Both goalkeepers were kept busy, but it was Dhofar’s finishing that made the difference.

League impact

The victory gives Dhofar SCSC an important boost in the Oman Professional League table and reinforces their ability to win close, high-scoring matches. For Ibri SCC, the defeat is painful because they twice fought back into the contest. The point they might have expected from a 2-2 position slipped away late, and they will need to tighten up defensively in the coming fixtures. Dhofar, by contrast, leave with momentum and a clear reminder of how dangerous they can be going forward.
