Tromsø IL edged a five-goal thriller against HamKam on Sunday evening, winning 3-2 at the Alfheim Stadion after a dramatic late goal. The hosts twice led, were pegged back by a resilient HamKam side, and finally found a winner in the closing minutes to send the home crowd into raptures.

Match Overview

Tromsø began the match on the front foot, pressing high and creating chances early. They took the lead inside ten minutes with a well-worked move down the left, and doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark with a header from a corner. HamKam, however, refused to fold. They pulled one back before half-time and equalised midway through the second half, setting up a tense finale.

With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Tromsø found one final push. A clever pass split the HamKam defence, and the substitute striker finished calmly to secure all three points in a match that showcased both teams’ attacking intent.

Key Moments

• 9th minute: Tromsø take the lead with a low shot across the goalkeeper after a slick team move.
• 31st minute: Tromsø double the lead, heading in from a corner kick.
• 44th minute: HamKam pull one back with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
• 67th minute: HamKam equalise after a goalmouth scramble following a free-kick.
• 88th minute: Tromsø score the winner, a composed finish on the counter-attack.

Tactical Story

Tromsø’s 4-3-3 was built on quick transitions and wide overloads. Their full-backs pushed high, allowing the wingers to drift inside and create numerical advantages in central areas. HamKam responded with a compact 5-3-2 out of possession, looking to spring counter-attacks through their two strikers. That approach worked well in the second half, as Tromsø’s defensive line dropped deeper and invited pressure.

The decisive tactical change came when Tromsø introduced fresh legs in attack. The substitute’s movement in behind stretched the HamKam back line, and the winning goal came from exactly that kind of run.

Standout Players

Tromsø’s attacking midfielder was the game’s most creative player, involved in two goals and constantly finding space between the lines. The substitute who scored the winner made an instant impact. For HamKam, their central striker was a handful all evening, scoring one and assisting the other, while their goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the score level for as long as he did.

Season Impact

The win keeps Tromsø IL in the hunt for a strong finish in the Eliteserien standings, while HamKam leave with credit but no points. This was a match that underlined the attacking quality in both squads and added another memorable chapter to their recent head-to-head record. Tromsø will be relieved to have taken maximum points from such a tight contest, and they now look ahead to their next fixture with renewed confidence.
