Sandefjord cruised to a 3-0 victory over Start Kristiansand on Sunday evening, producing a confident home performance that left no doubt about the result. Two early goals set the tone, and a third late on capped a dominant night at the Release Arena in Sandefjord.

Match Overview

Sandefjord started brightly and needed just twelve minutes to open the scoring, punishing a loose pass in the Start defence with a quick, incisive finish. The hosts doubled their lead shortly after the restart, when a driven cross from the left was turned in at the near post. Start Kristiansand struggled to keep possession, and their attempts to press high were repeatedly bypassed by Sandefjord’s quick passing.

The third goal arrived in the closing stages, a reward for Sandefjord’s patience and persistence. The visitors, who have found life difficult in the Eliteserien this season, were left to reflect on another tough away day.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Sandefjord take the lead with a low finish after a defensive mistake.
• 34th minute: Start’s best opportunity, a shot from distance that forced a fingertip save.
• 48th minute: Sandefjord double the lead with a close-range finish from a left-wing cross.
• 72nd minute: Start push players forward but are caught on the counter twice.
• 85th minute: Sandefjord add a third, a calm finish after a neat one-two on the edge of the box.

Tactical Story

Sandefjord lined up with a compact 4-4-2 that shifted into a midfield block whenever Start had the ball. The front two worked hard to cut off passing lanes into midfield, forcing the visitors to play sideways or long. When Sandefjord won the ball, they attacked directly and with purpose, targeting the space behind Start’s advanced full-backs.

Start Kristiansand tried to build from the back but were repeatedly frustrated by Sandefjord’s pressing. Their midfield struggled to link with the attack, and the few crosses they delivered were comfortably dealt with by the home defence.

Standout Players

Sandefjord’s right winger was a constant threat, involved in two of the three goals and consistently beating his marker. The central striker took his chances well and led the line with intelligence. In midfield, the captain controlled the tempo and broke up several Start attacks. For Start, the goalkeeper made a string of saves to prevent a heavier defeat, while their young midfielder showed flashes of promise in difficult circumstances.

Season Impact

This 3-0 win gives Sandefjord a valuable boost in the Eliteserien standings and improves their goal difference. For Start Kristiansand, it is another reminder of the gap they must close if they are to survive in the top flight. The result also extends Sandefjord’s strong recent record against Start in head-to-head meetings. Both teams now prepare for their next fixtures, with Sandefjord looking upward and Start searching for answers.
