Grei Women secured their place in the semifinals of the Norwegian Women's Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Roa Women at Grei Arena on Thursday evening. A second-half goal from Mia Hansen proved enough to separate the two sides in a tense quarterfinal clash that was decided by fine margins.

Match Overview

The Norwegian Women's Cup quarterfinal kicked off under the floodlights in Oslo, with Grei Women looking to continue their impressive cup run. Roa Women, who had upset higher-ranked opposition in the previous round, arrived with confidence but struggled to break down a disciplined Grei defense. The only goal of the game came in the 67th minute when Hansen latched onto a through ball and calmly slotted past the Roa goalkeeper.

Grei controlled possession for large spells, but Roa threatened on the counter. The visitors had a golden chance to equalize in the 82nd minute, but Grei goalkeeper Ida Johansen produced a superb save to deny Line Solberg from close range.

Key Moments

• 67' — Goal: Mia Hansen runs onto a defense-splitting pass from midfielder Emma Nilsen and finishes low into the bottom corner.
• 82' — Big save: Ida Johansen reacts quickly to block Line Solberg's effort from eight yards.
• 90+3' — Late drama: Roa's final corner is cleared off the line by Grei defender Sara Pedersen as the hosts hold on.

Tactical Story

Grei Women set up in a 4-3-3 formation, pressing high and forcing Roa into long balls. The midfield trio of Nilsen, Thea Berg, and captain Karin Dahl dominated the center of the park, winning second balls and recycling possession. Roa, playing a compact 4-4-2, defended deep and looked to spring quick counterattacks through Solberg and winger Ingrid Moen. However, Grei's back four held firm, with Pedersen and Maren Lie forming a solid partnership.

The decisive moment came from a tactical switch: Grei coach moved Hansen into a more central role, and within five minutes she scored the winner. Roa pushed players forward late on but could not find an equalizer.

Standout Players

• Mia Hansen (Grei Women): The match-winner, always a threat with her movement and finishing.
• Ida Johansen (Grei Women): Made two crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet.
• Line Solberg (Roa Women): Roa's most dangerous player, testing Johansen and holding up play.

What the Result Means

Grei Women advance to the semifinals of the Norwegian Women's Cup, where they will face either Rosenborg Women or Vålerenga Women. The win keeps their dream of lifting the trophy alive and extends their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches. For Roa Women, the defeat ends a memorable cup journey, but their performance against a top-tier side shows they can compete at a higher level.
