FK Haugesund (W) produced the most emphatic performance of the round, thrashing Bryne Women 5–1 away from home in the Norwegian Women's Cup on 8 October 2026. The visitors were ruthless in front of goal and clinical throughout a one-sided cup tie.

Match Overview

Bryne Women went into the match hoping that home advantage and a compact defensive shape could frustrate their more fancied opponents. Those hopes lasted less than half an hour. Haugesund moved the ball sharply, stretched the Bryne defence with quick switches of play and took control of the game well before the half-time whistle.

By the interval the tie was effectively settled. The second half became a matter of damage limitation for the hosts, and although Bryne managed a well-taken consolation goal, Haugesund added further goals to complete a convincing cup rout.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Haugesund broke the deadlock with a composed finish after a flowing move down the right.
• Quick double: Two goals in quick succession midway through the first half effectively ended the contest as a competitive fixture.
• Bryne's response: The hosts pulled one back to briefly raise the home crowd, but it proved only a consolation.
• Second-half dominance: Haugesund added two more goals after the break, underlining their superiority in every department.

Tactical Story

Haugesund's success was founded on pressing high and winning the ball in dangerous areas. Their midfield trio consistently beat Bryne's press, and the front line's movement created space between the full-backs and centre-backs all evening. Bryne, forced to defend deeper and deeper, struggled to keep possession long enough to relieve the pressure.

Haugesund's use of width was particularly impressive: both wingers hugged the touchline, forcing Bryne's defensive block to expand, and the resulting gaps in the middle were exploited time and again.

Standout Players

Haugesund's attacking players shared the goals, but it was their creative midfielders who controlled the rhythm of the match, repeatedly finding pockets of space and delivering accurate final balls. The Bryne goalkeeper, despite conceding five, made several saves that prevented an even heavier defeat. Bryne's goalscorer showed good movement and finishing, offering a rare bright note for the home side.

What the Result Means

FK Haugesund (W) move into the next round of the Norwegian Women's Cup with momentum and a healthy goals tally, and they will be viewed as a dangerous draw for any remaining team. For Bryne Women, the defeat is a tough learning experience, but their focus will now shift to league form and rebuilding confidence after a difficult cup night.
