Lyn Women 1-1 Honefoss Women — Norwegian Toppserien — September 26, 2026

Lyn Women and Honefoss Women played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Norwegian Toppserien on Saturday evening, a result that leaves both sides still searching for a decisive run of form. At a packed Kringsjå Stadion in Oslo, the visitors took an early lead, but Lyn's persistence earned them a deserved share of the spoils.

Match Overview

Honefoss started brightly and needed just 18 minutes to break the deadlock. A quick exchange on the right wing opened up space for a low cross, and the arriving forward swept the ball into the net from close range. The goal stunned Lyn, who had begun the match with plenty of intent but were guilty of leaving gaps at the back.

Lyn gradually found their rhythm. Their midfield began to win the second balls, and the wingers started to isolate their markers. The equaliser arrived in the 64th minute after a patient build-up. A clever reverse pass released the left-back, whose cross was met by a glancing header at the near post. From that moment on, Lyn looked the more likely winners, but Honefoss defended resolutely.

Key Moments

• 18' — Honefoss Women take the lead through a close-range finish after a flowing move.
• 64' — Lyn Women equalise with a near-post header from a deep cross.
• 79' — Honefoss goalkeeper makes a stunning double save to deny Lyn.
• 88' — Lyn hit the crossbar from a free-kick.

The final 20 minutes were played almost entirely in Honefoss's half. Lyn peppered the box with crosses and shots, and the Honefoss goalkeeper was forced into a brilliant double save in the 79th minute. A free-kick in the 88th minute rattled the crossbar, and the follow-up was cleared off the line. Honefoss hung on for a point that felt like a victory.

Tactical Story

Honefoss set up to absorb pressure and hit on the counter, and their early goal allowed them to sit deeper than they might have planned. They defended in a narrow 4-4-2 block, forcing Lyn to play around them rather than through them. Lyn, meanwhile, used their full-backs aggressively, creating overloads on the flanks. The equaliser came from exactly that pattern, but Lyn's inability to convert their late dominance into a winner will frustrate the coaching staff.

Standout Players

Lyn's central midfielder was the engine of the comeback, dictating tempo and winning possession repeatedly. The left-back was a constant threat going forward and provided the assist. For Honefoss, the goalkeeper was the undisputed player of the match, while the goalscorer's movement caused problems all evening.

Toppserien Table Impact

The draw keeps both teams in the middle of the Toppserien standings, with neither able to make significant ground on the European places or pull clear of the chasing pack. For Lyn, it is a point gained after falling behind; for Honefoss, it is a valuable away point but one that leaves them wanting more. Both will look to turn draws into wins in their next fixtures.
