Lyn Women 4-3 FK Haugesund Women: Seven-goal thriller decided in dramatic finale

Lyn Women edged FK Haugesund Women 4-3 in a remarkable Norwegian Toppserien encounter on 4 October 2026, a match that swung repeatedly before the hosts found a late winner. The seven-goal contest was a showcase of attacking football, defensive lapses, and relentless momentum shifts.

For neutrals, it was the most entertaining match of the Toppserien round. For the coaches, it was likely a test of nerves. Lyn Women twice held two-goal cushions, only for FK Haugesund Women to battle back and equalize late. Just when a draw seemed certain, Lyn found one final breakthrough to claim all three points.

Match overview

Lyn started brightly and dominated the opening half-hour. Their midfield pressed aggressively, forcing Haugesund into hurried passes, and their wide players found space behind the full-backs. Haugesund looked dangerous on the counter and from set pieces, which kept the game alive even when Lyn appeared in control.

The second half became an end-to-end battle. Lyn’s attacking play was sharp, but their defensive concentration wavered. Haugesund refused to go away, scoring twice in the final 20 minutes to set up a tense finish. The game had the feel of a classic Toppserien six-pointer, with both teams fully committed to the final whistle.

Tactical story

Lyn’s game plan was built on width and speed. They attacked down the flanks, stretched Haugesund’s back line, and created overloads in the final third. However, their eagerness to push forward left gaps in midfield, and Haugesund exploited those spaces with direct runs and set pieces.

Haugesund’s resilience was impressive. They could have folded after conceding early, but their response showed character. In the end, Lyn’s greater attacking quality made the difference, even if their defensive performance will give the coaching staff plenty to review.

Standout players

Lyn’s attacking midfielder was at the heart of nearly every dangerous move, linking play and creating chances. The home side’s forward line was clinical, especially in the first half. For Haugesund, the set-piece specialist and the central striker caused constant problems, and the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the comeback alive.

Toppserien table impact

This win gives Lyn Women a crucial three points in the Toppserien standings and keeps them in the conversation for a high finish. For FK Haugesund Women, the defeat is painful, especially after fighting back from two goals down. They remain in a battle to climb away from the lower reaches of the table. The result also improves Lyn’s head-to-head record and boosts their goal difference in a competitive league where every point matters.
