Hønefoss Women 3-0 Bodø/Glimt Women: Ruthless hosts strengthen Toppserien push

Hønefoss Women produced a commanding 3-0 victory over Bodø/Glimt Women in the Norwegian Toppserien on 4 October 2026, turning home advantage into a statement performance. The hosts were sharper in both boxes, scored at key moments, and kept a clean sheet that will boost confidence for the run-in.

Coming into the match, both sides knew the value of three points in a tightly packed Toppserien table. Hønefoss set the tone early with aggressive pressing, while Bodø/Glimt tried to settle into possession. The difference was Hønefoss’s efficiency: they created high-quality chances and did not let the visitors recover after falling behind.

Match overview

From the opening whistle, Hønefoss looked to press high and force Bodø/Glimt into long clearances. The home side’s midfield won second balls, and their wide players stretched the opposition back line. Bodø/Glimt had spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances, while Hønefoss grew more dangerous as the match wore on.

The game was effectively decided by Hønefoss’s ability to turn defense into attack. Their transitions were quick, their passing in the final third was direct, and their finishing was clinical. Bodø/Glimt’s best moments came from set pieces, but the Hønefoss defense stood firm and protected the goalkeeper well.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Hønefoss took the lead after a quick turnover. A low cross from the right was turned in from close range, setting the tone for the night.
• 42nd minute: The hosts doubled the advantage before half-time, with a composed finish after a short corner caught Bodø/Glimt’s defense flat-footed.
• 78th minute: The result was sealed when Hønefoss’s forward broke through and slotted past the goalkeeper, capping a counterattack that summed up the home side’s efficiency.
• 90th minute: Bodø/Glimt’s best late chance was blocked, preserving the shutout and a convincing three-goal win.

Tactical story

Hønefoss’s 3-0 win was built on compact pressing and quick transitions. They allowed Bodø/Glimt possession in harmless areas, then pounced when the visitors tried to play through the middle. The home full-backs pushed high to support attacks, but the center-backs remained disciplined. Bodø/Glimt’s attempts to play out from the back were repeatedly disrupted, and their midfield could not find enough space between the lines.

In the second half, Hønefoss dropped slightly deeper to protect the lead, but they never stopped looking for a third goal. That balance between control and ambition is exactly what coaches want in a home Toppserien fixture. Bodø/Glimt, meanwhile, will review how easily they were opened up on the counter.

Standout players

The Hønefoss midfield set the tempo, winning tackles and linking defense with attack. The center-back pairing was excellent, limiting Bodø/Glimt to few clear sights of goal. Up front, the home side’s No. 9 was a constant outlet, holding the ball and bringing others into play. For Bodø/Glimt, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, but the team’s attacking players were largely starved of service.

Toppserien table impact

This result adds three important points to Hønefoss Women’s Toppserien tally and strengthens their position in the upper half of the standings. For Bodø/Glimt Women, it is a missed opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them. The head-to-head now favors Hønefoss, and the manner of the win will be noted by rivals in the title and European places race. Hønefoss will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture, while Bodø/Glimt must regroup quickly.
